MGS3 "CURE" system for dayz medical system

Recommended Posts

Just thought i would state that for those who have played metal gear solid 3 and saw the system they implemented for players to heal themselves. That system i think would be perfect for dayz. It was in-depth yet at the same time simple and easy to use.

Also by dayz i imply the stand alone game not the mod. To those who don't know what im talking about, here is a link to a video of the CURE system.

I like it. I don't know how well the standalone engine will be able to handle that, but I love a good, detailed wound system, and would like to see the interface from MGS3 combined with the depth and granularity of Dwarf Fortress for medical treatment. I remember the ArmA tutorial having a whole segment where you grab a wounded guy, hoist him up on your shoulder, then carry him to a safe place to patch him up. I want to be doing CPR, applying splints and tourniquets, disinfecting wounds, the whole nine yards. If death is really going to be a serious problem, there should be ways to resist it besides "don't get shot". So much could be done with it, and a gritty medical simulation would add a lot to the sense of surviving.

So yeah, you get some beans.

I absolutely support this.

Especially if you didn't automatically die after being shot. I'm not sure what could be done to stop a .303 Lee Enfield round from killing you, but you shouldn't die immedaitly. You should be able to do something to save yourself or the guy you are treating.

Don't really have anything to contribute to the topic other than that, but i'm sure Rocket will think of something awesome.

Yeah, above all else, I want a sort of "grey death" area, where solo players will hit the respawn button but you could choose to hang in there if you have buddies in the area who can revive you. They'll have to do more than "Hold X to Revive", though. Bandages, antiseptic, whatever you need to make the guy well again should be called for. The point is that I want to see situations in which I bodily lift a teammate and carry him to the truck, throw him in the bed, then drive him to meet with a medic who treats his wounds and gets him back into the game instead of just watching him die, then waiting fifteen minutes while he runs from the coast to reclaim his equipment.

That medical system looks sweet. Also how about them fancy sound effects? Ok maybe not, but the rest of it is boss.

By any chance have you been lurking WarZ forums. The Devs over there suggested this months ago. Not sure if they are going to use it but there was a sticky about it.

Sounds good. Perhapse we don't need all those fancy pancy "survival views" but rather just keep it text-based. Then, it shouldn't be so heavy on the system, right?

Fully support this. How about the game doesn't tell you what you need to use, but you have to figure it out on your own? Using an in-game catalouge or something like that. It would really put some worth into an experienced medic. It would also make the game's medical-system much more intriguing.

In all honesty i see WarZ being much more fun than DayZ they are doing all the things dayz should be doing to make it a FUN and interactive game not some griefing simulator.

If the gameplay is as solid as the concept i will have no issue buying WarZ.

But no i have not I merely thought that MGS3 would be perfect example of having a more indepth yet simple medical system

Don't take my example so literally, because what you stated is what i was realistically thinking im just saying how it would be nice for there to be a more item heavy medical system of course them adding this by itself would suck because as it stands now it is WAY to easy to die from a gun, If they started focusing on more defense than offense it would make this game way more FUN since it would be possible to actually survive instead of just getting shot by some noob who server hopped barracks 24/7.
