Class Real (wall of text)

Recommended Posts

I was enjoying some musical master pieces from the Kenji Kawai Live Concert, and one of the films he composed for was the Japanese/Polish Production "Avalon" (2001), one of those mindf*cks in wich it is not really clear what is reality and what not.

Fun thing, during a flash back by Ash (A damsel called Małgorzata Foremniak) in a game with her old team called Wizzard where a few players basically F4 themselves out of the game, leaving Ash and Murphy to fend for themselves. But that is al in the movie. http://youtu.be/Y0Z5McvjFD8 (the first 15 minutes), if you want to watch the whole movie, be sure to have the original Polish one with English subtitles.

Now for Class Real, the ultimate level in the Game that Ash plays. At this level "Neutral players" are introduced. Shoot one of them and your game is over.

My idea is that a small number of players (both bandits and survivors) at a server become neutral players without them knowing it once they logged in. As soon as one of those players kill or even hits another player, that player will then loose its neutral status and that status will be transferred to a new player logging in or if no one logs in to another player that has yet not killed someone during that session. If someone shoots a neutral player and kills him, than that player that shot is forced to respawn.

You can't see who is neutral unless you saw him actually killing someone or at least be pretty sure that he is a killer (But can you trust the one who says "Robert512 is a killer, shoot him"?), at wich you can be sure that you can shoot him safely. Or you take the risk and hope he/she is not a Neutral player, wich could be the case since only a small percentage of players will be Neutrals.

So in short:

* People logging in on a server have a small random chance of becomming a Neutral player.

* The status is not known to the players.

* A Neutral player that kills looses his Neutral status.

* Killing a Neutral player forces the killer to a respawn wich basic equipment

* Logging off revokes the Neutral status.

I think it is not the best solution, by no means, but I think it will put a serious brake on the "for the Lulz" killings. My guess is that it also has an effect on hackers, especially with server-wide killing wich garantuees killing Neutral players.

On the other hand I will see other tactics arise, robbing players at gunpoint is suddenly a viable tactic again. Do you want to loose it al in a respawn because it simpler to shoot the poor bugger and rob him of his beans and makarov magazines? The same goes for the one that is about to be robbed, are you going to risk it al and shoot that other guy in so-called selfdefence? You simply don't know if the other is a Neutral.

Why do I want both bandits and survivors as Neutral players, not every bandit kills during a gaming-session or he stopped with his killings and want's become a regular player again. Players should judge other players upon what they do and say, and not on how the look like.
