Trading M240 for M249 SAW

M240 more dmg, longer range.

Not saying M249 is a bad weapon, I like it because of the 200 round belt. But for zombie killing I think they're the same. M240 however does 8000 dmg to players, while M249 does 3555.

Thanks for the comparison that was actually handy information. I just picked it up for an oh crap moment, and it served that purpose when we blazed through 3 clips on the airfield but just wasn't my cup of tea, I prefer my A4 with the acog scope or my DMR which was sadly recently lost in a server shut down, but maybe I'll find another.

I don't remember the SAW being loud. It's the same caliber as the M16 and M4 weapons and basically the same stats except for a larger clip.

Well, wiki says that M249 and M240 have equal loud sound when fired. Of course the SAW could have different sound from M240, which is more silent for PLAYERS ONLY. But the zombies don't care. Both weapons have the same loudness to zombies.

Well in that case, the trade is off. 8000 damage far outclasses the M249.

its pretty damn loud same with the m4

i think its about the saame noise level as a m240

the SAW is smaller and i think has a fast fire rate with less recoil

I did notice when we used the 249 that one clip seemed much louder then the others, not sure why didn't seem to aggro more then the others but to our team we noticed a sound difference. It is true neither gun is particularly quiet but you're using a full blown machine gun. I think both serve that intended function. I prefer more accurate shots so I stick with the M4 but I think as posted above as far as aggroing zeds goes its all about the same. I did notice that just barely firing with the 249 was 3 to 5 shots which will be louder in the long haul cause instead of one maybe two bullets drawing attention its a spray. People will be more certain they heard that and which way to go. Of course I encountered a guy the other night with an M16 that treated it like a saw, spraying full auto, so I think to an extent you just have to determine what you like. I don't think its a large enough difference for you to notice between the two. one may do a little less damage then the other or slight sound difference but both spray at rediculous speeds, so either way you're going to attract some attention with either gun.

The M249 fires 5.56 NATO rounds which is the same noise level as the AR family while the M240 fires the much larger 7.62 NATO which is the same as the M14,FN-FAL and is much louder and more powerful.

In summary :

M249 has low recoil medium damage and medium noise larger ammo capacity (bullets are smaller)

M240,MK 48 MOD 0 has high recoil high damage and loud noise
