I would like to be able to spawn with friends.

Recommended Posts

I would love some way to spawn with friends. Even if this is just picking a spawn point. ( I Am not talking about some spawn on squad feature, to be clear )

I think the best times I have had is when I play Dayz with some friends. Spending 2 hours to even find them eats up my playtime.

This only applies for those times when you all start fresh, for whatever reason.

Beyond that, its the same rule-sets as before.

This is the scenario:

I want to spawn into the game with my friends. We pick a point along the coast, and spawn in. If someone dies after we play for a few hours, or whatever, they re-spawn on the coast somewhere, like always.

This avoids what people do now already. Reconnect over and over to spawn with friends. That impacts the hardware. Its the SAME outcome.

EDIT: Edited for people who can't seem to read threads.

EDIT 2: Again.

It shouldnt take 2 hours to find friends. 20 minutes at the most. The game is brutal in every facet. Why should it make this aspect easier?

I agree, playing with friends is incredibly fun.

But, to what extent would you like to be able to choose? I certainly don't think players should be able to choose to spawn at any in-land cities/towns. Also, if players could simply spawn at Cherno/Elektro it would (probably) lead to an increase of PvP in those cities.

Taking 2 hours simply to find your friends may be a pain, but I think a lot of players prefer DayZ to remain this way. Just like many things in DayZ, the ability to play with friends requires effort on the players part.

Would be nice to have some sort of 'group' function. Maybe when your 'group' all died they could all spawn in roughly the same area?

It takes so much time to meet up after death that our group frequently doesn't even bother, just meet back at camp.

That may be your experience, but its not mine. We are not ArmA players in the sense we know the map. Figuring out where we are, to even tell others, THEN figuring out what direction to head in to meet up takes a long time.

Why change this? Because the game is more fun with friends. Obviously, this suggestion is for Coastal spawns only. The ones we already have, or change them away from major loot centers, just let us pick for reasons of playing with friends.

The alternative is constant suicide until the random spawn point matches. This does the same thing, but puts strain on the hardware, it also takes quite a while with all the spawn bugs and whatnot.

I am sorry but that is complete BS. I bought Arma2 specifically to play Dayz. I did not know the map but I did take the time to learn it. I will say that the first several hours are extremely frustrating and finding friends is hard at first. The game has a purposely STEEP learning curve. Once you get past that and become competent at navigating the map, it is really quite rewarding.

I'm sorry you feel this suggestion is BS.

I do not feel using my evenings playtime finding my friends to be rewarding, especially as then, my playtime is over.

I want to play with my friends, its quite fun to play with them. I enjoy the harshness of the game, with exception of this.

Let it be harsh, while I play with friends. It impacts little.

Not the suggestion, I may not agree with it but I try not to just rag on someones idea. What I meant by BS is the suggestion that someone who finds navigation less than impossible has to be a longtime veteran of Arma2. I also play with friends btw.

I do not believe I made that assertion. Simply that map knowledge is not something we have.

I was describing the elements that make finding friends, friends you may have even invited to play the game with you, take a long time.

It does take time, I agree with that. I think we defer on the period of time it takes. Regardless, to me that just makes life more precious. It prevents you from running around like a deathsquad and not caring if you die. Grouping up should make you feel similar to when you find an M107. You don't want to die because the consequences are greater.

Um, if we all spawn at the same point, spend hours moving inland, and one of us dies. Other than I got to play with my friends.

What part of the difficulty changed? They still have to now find the group, and all that comes with it.

Maybe being able to form a "group" in lobby so when you join, you spawn next to eachother or w/e.

Sure, that works. Really only want this for those times when you all start fresh, for whatever reason.

It doesn't fit to DayZ gameplay. Use landmarks, navigation and survival skills to meet with your friends and don't die.

You have so many zombie games with spawn with friends function (L4D, Killing Floor, Dead Island, etc), why DayZ should be like them? Or maybe DayZ is not game for you?

Yes it does. Many survival shows start with groups of Friends/Family surviving together.

See link in my sig for an idea that is pretty much what you're asking for.

rofl. this.

Never played A2 before, but 2 hours is to make my way from the west of kamenka to NE Airfield.

I don't sign this idea.

The game doesn't appear to be designed for every1 to have fun. It's to bring tension and make sure you can deal with hard decisions.

You spawned near balota and your friend near solnichniy. Will you rush to meet him or inspect the balota airfield? Are you gonna meet him in cherno for heavy loot or maybe Pusta to scavenge calmly?

I think he said that doesn't use anything apart from the game. If he doesn't loot a map, he doesn't use one.

That's nice, but make things harder.

What point? ALOT of older game didn't have a map at all. You had to make your own or find one made online. If you wanna roleplay then deal with it.
