Just wanted to say hello and thanks for what looks(and I am sure is) one epic mod. I watched the videos for so long, decided to trade my whiskey in this month to buy the Arma II Games(currently downloading via steam) Once done, I'll re watch the tutorial install videos and proceed to install.

Any personal experience advise you wish to share with me, stuff that might not be covered in the normal guides or game play feel free. And Hope I dont see any of you looking at me through your cross hairs LOL

I wish you goodluck, sadly DayZ is being attacked by hackers all the time. I recommend a private hive so it wont ruin your experience. Check out the post in the radio chatter called [OFFICIAL] Survival Ops - Hard Corps

Damn, gave up your Whiskey? That's dedication.

You've got your tutorials already for mechanics, and I won't tell you how to play. Just follow your instincts and do what you'd naturally do a situation. If you die, and you will, then you learn and move on.

I will say though, if you're planning on being a friendly, you certainly can, but do so with caution. Make sure people either can't see your, are turned away from you, or have their gun lowered, otherwise, they're not friendly. And of course be wary of there friends, try to stay in the best cover possible, and don't stop moving if not in a building.

Thanks guys, I been gaming since the Atari era and been a life long Zombie Fan, I understand this mod is Beta and bugged up at times. I can live with that. As for hackers, yeah, that sucks, but just the idea of being able to play a survival zombie Apocalypse type game seems epic. I have played many zombie games and none have lived up to my expectations. I dont seek mindless killing of zombies. That gets old fast, I want to start off with the basics(nothing) and struggle to survive in a simulated zombie Apocalypse. Your can bet your undead bucks Ill be buying the stand alone when released. But hoping this can help pass the time as well as get a general feel for the Day Z. I have read much about it, but never liked Arma II very much. Ended up giving my old pc away to a family member, so I decided, to hell with it, whiskey or a game I dislike to enjoy a mod and a concept I enjoy. And thanks for the private server tip, Ill look into that

And yes and no on friendly. Friendly, active part of the forum community, of course. In Game, man its them or me. I will trust them about as much as I would a Politician who promises to lower my taxes muwahahaha :rolleyes:

Thanks, re installing Arma2 atm, as the 1st time I wasnt able to get the mod running, despite watching videos, soon as I can get the mod working, its gonna be a blast. I just know it, that or I become a Human Happy Meal lol

Like someone else said - private hive is the way to go at the minute. If you don't know what a private hive server is, it's basically a server where your character (and gear) is stored separately from the main hive. Hackers, cheaters and assbags in general tend not to bother with them and the ones that do get banned by admin pronto. I can't play in a main hive server for half an hour without being teleport-killed by a hacker. xD

To find private hive servers just type 'hive' in to your filter in the server browser.
