loot despawn on login

Few questions - I believe I read somewhere that items/loot piles will disappear around the location you spawn in.

1)Is that true?

2)Is that in on all servers? It seems to be hit or miss when I play.

3)Does it make the loot disappear even when other players are already around? I seem to run into a lot of area without loot. I know loot is rare but when you do a whole airfield or the military camp without even a pile of empty cans, it doesn't seem right.

4)How long, roughly, do items take to respawn? If I get into a town with no loot, is it worth sticking around for a few minutes?

5)Is it not possible to make loot piles un-lootable to players that spawn near them, instead of making them disappear for everyone?

Don't be a dick and server hop to get loot spawns in rare locations.

When joining a server and loot hasn't spawned around you it's because no one has been there for the loot to spawn. Just joining a server doesn't make loot spawn, you have to enter an area.

Yep it's true. I noticed it myself (absolutely no loot near my spawns). It's good. Makes the game interesting and curbs server hopping big time.

I also admit I liked to log off in good loot locations for an easier start on next login with a nice loot chance. Hated myself for it, it felt wrong, borderline exploiting.

It's BETTER this way now.

That's not how I hear it described usually. But this actually makes more sense with how I experience it. It always felt the whole map is divided into zones that get populated when you enter them but not when you join a server.

All I care about is that loots don't despawn because a jackass decided to log out/log in inside the military base.

so dose any one know what the rule is with loot spawning? is it "chunck loaded" when some one come near to the area, is it pre-loaded when servers start/restart, is it on a timer once looted there will be respawn after an hour or something? what is the rule to loot spawning?

Its always the "Farmers or server hoppers" that ask the Question and always the airfield or the military camps that the loot isnt spawning at....

Thats why some loot is rare you have to go look for it, making it that much rewarding when you find it.

I'll prob be flamed but oh well... when you join a server and lets say your at the NW airfield, the fire station is where you log in and there is no loot, just sit outside the door for 5/10 min and things will respawn. This works for any location.

Popping in on this thread because I'm trying to understand how this actually works.

Today, I was in Elektro digging up supplies. I was in the grocery store, I picked up a can of beans from one loot pile and then all of a sudden all the loot inside the store disappeared.

First thing that occurred to me was someone had logged in inside or near the store, so I swept the area. No one to be found, and only what seemed to be the zombies that had spawned from myself were roaming. From store to restaurant to office to apartments and back again... there was only a couple of trash loot piles. So I hiked it over to Cherno. Same situation. Very very little loot piles. Only a couple ammo piles and the rest either trash or car parts.

Back to Elektro and the loot was still in the same state.

I don't server hop to farm so have never experienced how the loot behaves from that side of it and this is the first time I've seen loot just disappear while I was there looting. Strange.

Well for me once i logged into a server and there was a AKM right there so i picked it up ran down stairs and there was a AK but it was night on that server so i changed and the same thing happend exactly where i logged in
