my friend keeps getting stuck on Wainting for host screen. Why does this happen?

Probably wrong Arma Version...tell him to update his Arma. Or it could be a server side issue so just try another server.

I have also seen it if someone is not using the same dayz version as the server, if he is using dayz commander he can check by hovering over the server name!

thing is, i can enter the server. he tells me he has the versions i told him to

This has been happening to me a lot on the server I frequent the most. Unfortunately, most of my hidden stashes are on the server I'm getting this problem on, so I can't access any of the awesome gear or fail safe emergency supplies I've put away for a rainy day.
