No sound when joining server

Whenever I join a server all of my in-game sound turns off. During the "retrieving character information" screen I can hear the sound briefly but then it all goes mute. The entire game is quiet and the only sounds I can hear are the main menu button sounds.

I have tried joining a server with a normal OA mission and the problem appears to be DAYZ oriented.

I have tried reinstalling the game and deleting the Arma 2 folder in my documents, still the same problem arises.

Please help!

Me and a friend are getting this as well. Can hear sound briefly, then it stops.

I had DayZ updated, turns out it was because the servers I joined weren't running the latest version.

same problem - even when connecting to servers with correct versions.

it look like once you've connected to a incorrect server you're screwed no matter what you connect to.
