US 1045 - Try to use Military Flashlight as a shoulder light at night - Banned

Just start playing again. Was insanely dark and playing the map I never try before Lingor. Was having a good time but it was night and unable to see anything. Figure I'll mess around with the military flashlight notice it had put on shoulder option and boom. Ban by admin. Didn't realize it was against the server rules.

Don't feel bad..seems this "admin" is ban crazy. I have been playing regularly on server for several days. Tried to log in today "admin ban", no explanation, no posting on thread...nothing.

Gotta say being ban crazy..your not going to get to far with this server.

Yeah, seems like that the case. Was just hoping to get a reply, it seem like a decent server but I guess I got to play somewhere else.

Thanks to everyone that reply and just a general question. How do I find out if it's okay to have a shoulder light or not with the military flash light? Should I just always assume it's not okay to use it?

Something tells me this server is run by a kid who doesn't really know what he is doing. I am banned for accidentally PLAYING on the open server, you got banned for using a legitimate and legal peice of hardware.

Someting tells me this server is a part time "lets-have-fun-between-homework-assignments" type of place. I am going to recommend to my clan and associates to just save themselves the trouble and wipe this server from list.

As for the light issue...any REAL server would have warned you (without the pseudo-comedic "nice guys finish last" sarcasm) and all would have been well.

Yes I think a better server run by a adult would be a good choice.

The military flashlight cannot be put on your shoulder in standard DayZ, to do so requires a hack, a script to make it happen. You may have simply been banned for running a script of any kind not allowed in standard DayZ.

Being able to put that on my shoulder in DayZ Lingor rocks though, and I wish it was in standard SayZ as well.

I am sorry if this was the case...I have recently fixed the flashlight script restriction problem. I will unban you.

I said "Nice guys finish last" in Global chat to the players on the server...not to you. This was a means to show people if I see scripts being used (which I did wait until the 2nd time it popped up) I will take action. How you saw me say that is a mystery in itself as you were not even in the game. Also you should make it clear your name was "NiceGuy" in game, I wasn't just randomly saying that. In the future, if you get kicked for a script restriction, you should send a message in the game chat and say what happened, not repeat the action and get kicked again. This was the only reason I banned you in the first place was because it was twice in a row and I wasn't aware it was for the flashlight bug.

As for you Mr.Black, I will look into it. I will admit I am rather new to being an admin but I take the "safe then sorry" approach. Sorry if that seems harsh. If I am wrong I will immediately remove bans.

There is no need to start throwing accusations on my age (25) or purpose of the server. If you must know, I do work fulltime, I do go to school part time, and I do my best to ensure a great experience for the players on my server. When I see a list of scripts being used in my logs (about 50 different entries for you) then yes I will admit I get a little wary. I realize now that certain things are in logs that are indeed legit, and only time will totally clarify these to me. In the meantime, you could nicely say I was wrongly banned, and I will be glad to look into it. If not, there are other servers.

*EDIT* - I have looked through the logs and you are now unbanned "Mr. Black". Logs were bringing up false positives. Hope to see you back on!

Just for the record, if I have wrongly accused anyone and you wish to appeal the ban, you can send me a PM anytime on this website and I will be glad to go through it with you. I am truly sorry if you are innocent as it is not my intent to abuse my admin rights. I am simply trying to make the server experience grief free and fun for everyone.

Although I work full time, my job is in IT and I am constantly monitoring the server from work. I also now have a "side chat" ingame which will greatly help me verify abuse on server. I will ask other players if needed before making a warning/judgement. My end goal is to implement a rollback system which will allow me to be a lot less skeptical, and allow me to have hard evidence on abuse rather than a log entry.
