Will upgrading my hardware even fix FPS Lag?

Recommended Posts

So right now i'm considering upgrade my PC, in hopes that i'll be able to run DayZ better. What i'm afraid of is if upgrading will even fix my FPS at all while playing, because DayZ and ARMA2 in general seems to be more of software problem than a hardware problem in general, as i see SOOO many people complaining about FPS problems and they have computers that are ten times better then time. here are my specs;

OS- MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

CPU- Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz Lynnfield 45nm Technology

RAM- 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)

MOTHERBOARD- Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H55M-USB3 (Socket 1156)

GFX- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470

DISPLAY- iH282 (1920x1200@59Hz)

HDD- 977GB Western Digital WDC WD1002FAEX-00Y9A0 ATA Device (SATA)

[i have 3 other drives for data, but i store games on this 1 terabyte]

POWER- Corsair Professional HX850W 850W ATX 12V 70A 24PIN ATX Modular Power Supply Active PFC 140MM Fan

AUDIO- Corsair Vengeance 1500

I plan of upgrading my processor to an i5 2500k @ 3.4ghz, but ill also have to upgrade my motherboard to adjust to the 1155 socket, so it would be around 400 dollars.

(rams not that important in this game it does take alot of CPU power however)
