Help selecting a stable server?

Hi,

I played DayZ from May to July pretty much every day, I then signed up for a charity event in which I will be playing DayZ for 24 hours and trying to stay alive that entire time, I will be donating to charity every time I die.

Anyway, I took some time off the game so that I do not hate it by the time this marathon comes around, now I am looking for a stable server to play on. I am based in the EU but East Coast US servers usually had decent ping. The main problem is that so far there seems to be far less servers available than when I stopped playing and almost every one I connect to is a private hive. Is there a problem playing on regular servers? should I look at playing on a private hive server for this event?

Any advice on recommended stable servers would be great.

I would recommend private servers. If you're going to stream/donate while you play, it might be wise to play on these due to the facts that they don't appear on the server lists unless you have the IP or you search for names.

I've recently been playing on one and would highly recommend, it restarts every four hours (which allows a decent 5min-ish break) but also spawns in new items. Leading to what I would be a more dynamic playthrough (discovering more items/cars/etc.) which might be more enjoyable for viewers as well.

Some of the private servers are also connected to a private hive (so if you play on one vilayer private server your gear saves on the other vilayer private servers). Check out some servers in advance to gauge how good they are, even think about joining a private server with good admins and an active player base. I no longer have a regular Chernarus server since it shut down, but I am sure if you do a little advanced research you can find a good private and possibly even a good public server (although it is harder to find a good public server). Try to make contact with the admins and tell them what your plans are, or ask one of the frequent contributors on this site who admin EU servers if you can play on their server. Try not to announce the server you are playing on in the public forums though, you will end up having to pay out far more due to scripters and griefers.

Edit: It was funny I was specifically thinking of Derpy Hooves as someone to talk to but did not want to throw him out there without permission, good luck and since you are donating for every death I hope Derpy Hooves is able to kill you a couple of times.

Dont announce the server your playing on until after its done. Guaranteed if a hacker finds out they will be hitting that server with everything they can.

Yeah that kind of sucks, I want to announce it as I would like some people to come to kill me or help me survive but I understand that even if I am doing it for charity someone is going to come along and try and ruin it. I can probably get away with just linking to my stream and giving my server info out to people who seems decent.

We'll maybe I can work something out with the owners/admins and maybe we can some sort of manhunt. Maybe my group or just another guy can team up with you and the rest of the server can search out for you. And if you have a trusted group of followers on the stream might as well send them the ip and such.
