Unable to play - unsure why.

So I just recently tried playing DayZ and ran into a problem instantly.

Whenever I try to join a server I get the loading screen, I click ok, it says ''Wait for Host'' then instantly I get another loading screen. After that I get put back to the Arma II game menu, and nothing happens from there.

This is all a fresh install, so I've not tinkered around with anything to make it not work, then again, I haven't tinkered around with anything to make it work, if I needed to :/

I've installed this all at the same time as a friend, who's done EXACTLY the same thing as I have at each step and he's not had one problem at all.

Is there any kind person out there that could help me with this problem?

after "waiting for host" does it jump straight back to the server list with "waiting for character to create" appearing in the background?

If so, re-install battleye

Steam: right click ARMA OA > re-install battleye
