My solution to solve the bambi hunting problem

Recommended Posts

One of the most frustrating aspects of the game for new players is spawning along the coast only to get sniped/murdered by a bandit with hacked or superior gear sitting around on a hill bambi hunting.

I'm sure this will be somewhat fixed in the standalone as lack of hacking will mean people don't want to risk their high end gear deathmatching as often. But until then, my suggestion would be simply separating the spawn areas for bandits and survivors. Once you've killed enough players to become a bandit, you no longer spawn along the southern coast - you spawn along the eastern or northern coast. The longer walk times necessary to get back to the hill above electro would give less of an incentive to players who want to die over and over until they respawn in electro, run to tent/body, shoot until they die, and repeat. This would also ad more of a "thrill" to going "up north" because you would be entering known bandit territory (although bandits could come down to the southern coast as well they just couldn't spawn there).

As a new survivor, you would also be more likely to trust other players that you see along the starting areas because you would know that they're likely not at least full fledged bandits. This would contribute to players being more likely to make some friends and/or get some group cooperation going before they head up north and eventually get killed - meaning that they'd have a more fun starting experience and be more likely to get hooked on the game.

Just my suggestion.

A) As you said, once hacking is fixed, this will mostly be fixed and irrelevant.

B) If I'm a bambi hunting bandit and log out overlooking the survivor spawn point, when I log back in I'm right back to where I was overlooking the new spawn area. No walk needed.

Wait... So you want to spawn all the bandits beside the high-spec military gear?

To stop them from easily killing survivors...

If you spawned at Berezino, there are military tents to the west, the NW airfield is roughly Balota to Elektro distance, and Stary is on the way there.

I think I prefer the current spawn system TBH.

I thought about that, but I don't think there's really that much more military gear when the firestations, airstrip, treestands, and tents are considered that are on the south. Stary is still a walk from there and they will at least be deathmatching with other bandits unless the go inland.

I'll see your firestation shotgun/Deerstand glock , and raise you one M16 with underslung grenade launcher

Personally, I've been jumped by bandits on the coast, and I think it just adds flavour to the game (variety is the spice of life, can't always be easy for survivors)

But when rampant hacking is a thing of the past, most bandits probably wouldn't want to risk camping the south coast for N00bz because heroes (myself included) will be on the lookout.

The only reason to run from the coast will be if you're wearing a shemagh.

EDIT: Contrary to popular belief, there are those of us who don't just want to kill everything in sight.

Wait until I don't have to risk getting my ass teleported to death first though.

The best solution to getting rid of 'kill for fun' guys is simply giving them other things to do.

Banditry will always remain, it's a way of staying alive, but when you are just camping a hill and shooting survivors you are no longer committing banditry but you are just killing for fun.

maybe random spawn points for everybody at new start/after being killed?

not everyone is lucky enough to wake up on the beach of a zombie infested world...

Both bandits spawning with survivors won't stop a hacker from being near the shore line with his great gear. They don't just spawn in every server they go to and hack/script in a bunch of weaponry/supplies. They would just hop into a server, still alive and well, than start shootin'!

I liked someones idea of flags in the cities. Once you have discovered a flag it is added to a random spawn pool that you build (within that server). So you are rewarded by getting off of the beach D-Day style..

While we're at it, why not make everyone except you spawn 50ft in the air?

Im sorry to be blunt. But all of these suggestions are unbalanced and well...crap ideas.

If someone is more established and geared up then you. ADAPT.

Zombies kill 'Bambies' too, if you hear a bullet crack past you..Dont stop. Bee line your way to safety. Hit rego + Lag + A novice sniper and 90% of the time you will be fine if you know how to dodge.

I ran into one of these snipers on my way to cherno from kamenka, and suppressed him with my Mk. 48 with about 75 random shots littering the hills, needless to say, I got away from that sniper. Hah.

See?! Spawn system is fine, everybody just needs to be less shit at not getting shot.

Lesson one, NEVER GO PRONE! (And it'll still be most bambis' first move when they get shot at and shit it.)
