Has this happened to anyone else. Every time I have been so close to the hero skin you run into a survivor who tries to kill you. This has happened to me 3 times now lol. Like today I was on 4500 humanity and only 500 away from the hero skin. Only to fun into a survivor. As soon as I saw him I ran the other way as I had no intention to kill him. But what does he do he tries to shoot me with a Lee Enfield. After firing off a warning shot off to piss off. He still tries to kill me so in the end I had no option but to take him out.

Back down to 2000 humanity now :(.

Totally agree, i have a hero skin and the amount of guys beside bandits that try to take you out is scary !!

Which is it's own curse. Being a better shot than your enemy can cost you a tic of humanity with your retaliation.

Where do you get humanity from, btw?

I'm at 4100 humanity and I've never killed a player, I've never given a blood transfusion or bandaged/morphined/epipen'd/etc. any other player.

I have dropped antibiotics on the ground for another survivor and given some other items to players to help them though.. and killed a whole lot of zombies.

Just curious how I could go those last 900 and what raised it up to 4100 to begin with.

I also have never given a blood transfusion or even offered a bandage to anyone because it seems every one is out to get me on DayZ lol. Obviously giving people blood is the quickest way to get the last 900. But if you change your cloths for example survivor cloths to a gillie suit. Your humanity will go to 0 and over time you will get more humanity. Do this until you get your remaining 900 switch back to the survivor cloths and restart DayZ then you should have the skin.

Still, there seem to be a number of bugs related to humanity gain. I hardly ever gave other people medical attention, but I don't shoot at people either. I think I'm at about 7000 humanity right about now and it keeps becoming more and more.

Afaik you get about 200-300 each time you change skins between ghillie, camo and civvie clothes. It resets to 0 first then next time you log on the total humanity is raised. At least, it seems to for me.

From zero Humanity, you would need to give another survivor 20 Blood Bags or 250 Painkillers, Bandages, or Morphine (or any combination thereof) to achieve hero status.

So the fastest way is to get a buddy and just keep shooting him in the foot and giving him blood bags.

Aaaah, I get it now! Did read about humanity from dayzwiki even before I asked, but the only thing that gains humanity should be healing or medicating others, BUT it also says that:

"If a player's humanity drops below 2500, it will be replenished at a rate of approximately 30 points per minute until the player's humanity is restored to at least 2500. "

So if and when the bug of changing clothes "resets" your humanity to 0, it slowly starts rising back towards 2500.

But the next time you disconnect and connect back in, the humanity you had before will be back + it will also count the added humanity you got when the game thought you only had 0 and started raising it towards the basic 2500.

So that finally explains why I've gained humanity even if I've never performed any healing to other players yet.

Just start a new life, go the a hospital in Cherno or elektro with no gear, and call out "Free transfusions!" If you die, just do it again until you get the skin.
