Possible solution for DC-ing ?

Recommended Posts

Once you get hit by a zombie or a player , you need to wait 15 seconds untill you can disconnect safetly .

If you deicide to disconnect under 15 seconds you wont be able to connect to the servers for 10-15 minutes ?

Read the sticky for the next patch (1.7.1)' date=' there's already a mechanic on the way to help with dc'ing.

I did and I still don't see how will that help...Basiclly if your internet connection deicides to drop a duce you're fucked.

Imagen running away just from 1 zombie and then you lose your connection , or even worse in a firefight..

All I see is just a lot more problems + a lot of people spawning dead and not knowing why...

I was going to post something similar as a suggestion, until I saw this, so I will just add my thoughts here.

Having your body linger for 5 seconds after disconnecting is definitely A solution, but I don't think it solves the issue on its own.

I'll give you an example:

+ Player A is stalking Player B

+ Player B notices Player A, takes cover in a nearby building

+ Player B tries to fire at Player A (and vice versa), but knows he can't do much against him, and hits disconnect behind cover....5 seconds done

+ Meanwhile while Player A is still being cautious and waits for Player B to appear, but nothing comes out

So in addition to that, I think that a static time penalty of when people are able to disconnect, would deter it even further.

Basically, certain actions by, or against, the player would add a 30 second penalty before they are able to disconnect, such as:

+ Firing a weapon

+ Aggroing a NEW set of Zombies

+ Receiving Damage (zombie/player)

+ Causing Damage (zombie/player)

If the player continues to perform any of the actions above, it would just refresh the existing timer.

Granted this still doesn't affect players who are getting fired upon, but are not getting hit, and are not getting aggro from zombies; however I think this would still help for the majority of hostile situations that people tend to disconnect from if things are not looking good.
