shokaloop 1 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) I'm downloading Arma 2 and the expansion as we speak for Dayz, been wanting to try this mod out since I first heard about it over 2 months ago..Since I started downloading it today I've been browsing the forums, watching videos, basically data jamming my brain with all the info I can to get started.Well recently I've been noticing people bleeding out and needing blood transfusions? How does that work?Also,I've been noticing people with tents around a camp fire? What, if any, is the purpose to this? Just for looks? Do we need to sleep in game? If so that's amazing. Really bring the realistic feel to the whole thing.Is there bicycles in game?What other things should I be aware of before trying to do anything stupid right off the bat? I get the pk aspect and how people will try to kill you for your loots but how fare did the creators take the realistic feel of the game? How does that work?Well, different injuries require different treatment, e.g.: broken limbs need morphine(you can give it to yourself), if you bleed you will need a bandage( also can give to yourself), if you are unconscious you will need an epi-pen(someone else has to give that), if you have massive blood loss you will need a blood bag(someone else has to give it to you) and if you catch a could you need antibiotics! Catching a cold is also one of the reasons you will need a campfire from time to time, to keep your body temperature up, also needed to cook meat!Also,I've been noticing people with tents around a camp fire? Everyone has blood and they can run out and die. If you loose too much blood you'll need to regain it. You spawn on a beach, close to hills, small groups of houses and eventually you come across towns and cities. From the moment you spawn you will find zombies, most likely before you find food, water, guns or ammo. Mandalore (DayZ) 76 Posted September 25, 2012 As a beginner, the first thing you need to do is get your bearings.When you spawn on the bottom right side of your screen right below chernarus you will see your current location. You should take a minute and find where you actually are by using this map here (http://dayzdb.com/map).That map is a very useful tool, you can use it to find the specific loot you are looking for (hospitals for med supplies military camps for weapons etc), find your current position and plot your path to other areas etc.There's tons of things to learn about the game, personally I spent a whole day watching videos/reading guides before I played while I was waiting and I still found many things I didn't know about during my time playing.Also another helpful page is the wiki (http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page), it has information about everything in the game.
