Ragstorm88 8 Posted September 25, 2012 Hello what do you think about making every item in the game to has some kind of weight.Because if were talking about realism it's simply not possible a guy with as50 and another gun in his back pack + all axe/food/drinks/ammo/side arm/..... to run on the same speed as a guy having just a hatched and empty back pack even if he is Usain Bolt. Let's say somebody has as50 which is 12kg he has another assault rifle let's say 5 kg + ammo around 5 kg pistol with ammo around 1/2 kg food drinks = 2kg other stuff axe/gps/stuff = 2kg it's like 30 kg which is god damn alot it's like running with a 8 bricks on your back
jabberwock (DayZ) 24 Posted September 25, 2012 Yeah.. it doesn't take much weight in a backpack to severely slow you down, especially when there is any kind of incline. Imo it's one of the most fundamental flaws of the game.
oliverdesousa@hotmail.com 35 Posted September 25, 2012 They're working on this for the Standalone.
indominator 95 Posted September 25, 2012 weight was taken off so gameplay would not be hindered, inventory slot system will be redone first, also use search function.

Ragstorm88 8 Posted September 25, 2012 Lol, then we may have to address the superman running 18km/h indefinitely with a main rotor assembly, engine parts and four car tires strapped on him. hahaBut seriously, I agree at least make the bigger guns slow you down a little bit. And none of that counterstrike nonsense where you switch your primary to your back for your knife/pistol and you can suddenly sprint at full speed again. you have my beans

Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted September 25, 2012 That will shit on some players if they introduce weight, I like it another game changer, but..... The hero runs a bit faster, so could this be a forced style of playing? If heros run faster by default, big packs with more slots means more weight for everyone, would this dynamic change? What about ghillie wearers? They don't show Backpacks, can you imagine playing as a normal character and then being told you are gonna be running slower? They are changing the dynamic of the zombie pathing, probably making them bee line to you instead of the usual AI zig zag? How you gonna outrun them if your looting in a town and you fill up with supplies?, runs to barracks will be pointless for any heavy duty gear, a .50 will weigh down the player without much else. This is where a vehicle will be priceless, load it up with gear to lighten the players weight restrictions. This would mean more vehicle would have to be available and these are abused or hoarded in the mod as it is.
Gordon Axeman 191 Posted September 25, 2012 This topic is beaten to death. In my opinion the system of now is pretty good.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted September 25, 2012 That will shit on some players if they introduce weight, I like it another game changer, but.....If anything the ghillie suited players should have to make a choice, whether to be fully camouflaged or have a big backpack. because not being visible is enough of an advantage in itself, the backpacks not being shown on player models must be a glitch and should be fixed IMO. (yes I've went ghillied up a few times, it really feels like cheating)As for the Hero speed boost, that's a player choice more than anything. I'm a Hero on @Hive servers because of my play style, not because anything was forced upon me. Everybody who only kills in self defence and helps out others has earned that little reward I think.Normal survivors would be moving at normal speed, not slower. The added weight restrictions really would make vehicles a lot more desirable, even more than they are already. The whole vehicle spawn mechanic as it stands in the mod is a bit crap though. Having set spawn points takes the adventure out of finding cars/bikes. Running from one known spawn location to another looking for a car doesn't feel natural, if the spawns were truly random and ANYWHERE on the roads, hillsides, forests and dirt tracks of Chernarus everyone would have the same chances instead of the first come first served way it is now. (I get the distinct feeling sometimes the admins and their buddies have repaired and hidden the chopper on pretty much every server)
