Cities, First Aid and Batteries

Zombies make me nervous but players scare the shit out of me.

Make zombies scary again (1.7.1 ?). Currently it is very easy to avoid or defeat a zombie threat. Disconnects and kiting are very common tactics. Kill as many players as you like and run to your desktop when things get to hot.

Cities lack any real deterrent to a player firing a weapon near an area that should have the highest concentration of zombies. This is especially true if your a sniper camped outside of the Z spawn radius or in an elevated position. I propose that Z's spawn up to 1.2 km away from any major city (City Center). Cherno, Elektro and Berezino. On a condition of 'fired' from a high powered rifle the chance of a zombie spawning within 100m occurs. The more a sniper shoots the more zombies that spawn and investigate.

This should also apply to player inside the city. On a condition of 'fired' you may aggro a horde larger than the ammo are carrying. This should stop players from killing/robbing in an area that would be considered a stealth zone by any sane person.

Joining and connectivity.

The five second rule for disconnects is a good start but I'd like to take that one step further. I was thinking something along the lines of a 30 second cool down for both character creation and removal. When you spawn in you character performs a visible animation (stretching like everyone does when they wake up) and a audible sound (yawning /scratching). During this time your keyboard and mouse are unavailable (disableUserInput). When you want to log off you select a logoff symbol located in your gear menu. Maybe a pillow or a crescent moon. Once selected your character performs a bedtime ritual, sighs, and lays down. The server checks to see that you have completed the action and records a 'true' for the database. At the end of the you see a dialog saying, “You can now logoff.”

What if people disconnect or have connectivity issues? Then when you d/c the database records a 'false' logout. When you reconnect your still perform the 'wakeup' but now you have a small group of zombies (5-20) spawn nearby and run to you for some breakfast. Now is this cruel? Not really. You can think of it as passing out or having a seizure and you better be a good shot.

What are the benefits? Players hear you when you join the server and can quickly hunt you (server hopper). You can't run to your desktop when things get hot without having to deal with some consequence later (d/c exploit). Cons? It could annoy the crap out of you is you have a crappy ISP and are low on ammo/heatlh.

I wish I could bandage every wound on my body with one hand.

But I can't and neither should my character. The bandage system is too simple I'd like to take it up a notch. Have to bleed stages. Slow and Fast. Using your own bandage you can stop a slow leak but you can only slow a fast leak. Fast leaks that you slow make you move in a slow crouch until you hit a certain blood level and then you start rolling around on your back until some one patches you with their bandage.

Blood transfusions need to be increased to three players. A donor, a receiver, and a medic (someone to perform the transfusion). This would add more risk to low blood situations. This would also increase team play or force more respawns.

I love how we can still use electrical devices without consequence.

I propose that batteries are needed and are consumed within hours/days. This includes all electric devices. TWS, NVG, GPS, radio, flashlight, weapons with lights/lasers etc.

Geo caching

Sort of. Please remove the tent system until a better caching system can be created. It is so bad that some servers are just littered with tents, barbed wire and sandbags. Restrict all caching to what the player can carry or to a vehicle the player has found. Don't get me wrong I believe in caching but this is heavily abused by groups of players that have rented servers just for this purpose. Upon death they are fully refitted with an hour and back in the fight. While this does require time by the player 'server hopping' I believe it is an immersion breaking practice atm. And I would not be surprised that some groups have a separate A2:CO key just so they can place tents and not risk the loss of a tent on account of the tent owner's) death.
