I noticed this in the logs and was wondering what Seagull was

Does this mean he was hacking and doing like a bird eye view of the map ?

He might have turned someone into it or spawned it? I know it's a spectating view mode in Arma and such.

I'm not too sure. I've never been a seagull in DayZ though. I know other people have from hackers.

Apart from the logfile itself~

The seagull mode was meant to be a spectator mode for ArmA and also was a part of game-protection technology built in the game ~ if the ArmA game was "cracked" back then, when the game has a copy-protection, you could play it, but then in the middle of the mission you would die and your view would change to the seagull. This copy-protection was removed later, as it was triggering time to time even legit copies of the game :)

There is NO legit way to turn the seagull mode on in DayZ as spectator is disabled and prohibited by the DayZ devs.

The Seagull as well as boars and cows were/are used as a method to spawn gear. It isn't used much anymore but we kick for it and issue local bans based on the cords for players to appeal on our community forums. We also check GUID and IP against submissions on the CBL and submit https://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/issues/entry a combined list to it monthly.

People spawning in debug gets that message as well. So I wouldn't advice banning for it.
