Play withSix or DayzCommander breaks DNS

Recommended Posts

Hello.

Having some odd DNS issues (as in it breaks and can't resolve) whenever i refresh the entire server list with Play withSix or DayzCommander. Wondering if anyone has run into anything similar. I did some cursory Google searches but didn't find much. Haven't searched these forums, sorry :) DNS returns to normal after about 5 minutes.

Thanks!

yeah last few updates has improved it but it still needs work. just close six then reopen it to refresh if u do it while its refreshing but not responding you may need to end process in task manager, i havent tried commander.

Commander seems fine but Play with six kills my DNS every time I load it, thought it was just my net but this thread tells me otherwise.

Glad to see confirmations of others. DNS comes back after a bit so it's not a huge deal. I was more wondering if it was just me :)

Dayz commander and six-launcher is probably filling up your router's NAT-table not allowing you to make any new connections (like DNS lookups). The only way to circumvent is to buy a new router with more memory that can handle more sessions, or to put up a DNS server on your LAN.

Ahh interesting. I am running an old WRT54G with an older version of DD-WRT on it. One thing that i tried though, was running continuous pings to www.google.com from another machine while i was trying to isolate the issue. That machine was fine while my main rig was knocked out. Thanks for the info.

Ah well, then your PC probably just exceeded his max session count. You could try increasing it, but upgrading your routers firmware couldn't hurt either.
