Loot Farm - Is this weird?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have been a long-time reader of the forum, but this is my first post. I got Dayz about a week ago and I just want to tell you about my experience so far. I'm not sure if it's typical or not?

I play as a lone wolf (mainly because I don't have a headset yet). I have been slowly heading north the last few days trying to get all my gear up to scratch. I had basic gear such as a Lee Enfield, revolver, hatchet, canteen, binoculars, soda... the basics. My end goal was the air field while looting barns and buildings on the way. Anyway, I finally made the air field today with around 6000 blood after a few close encounters, but I had no food and I was dangerously hungry. After spending a few hours looking everywhere I found some ok gear (morphine, AK74, makarov etc. etc.) but nothing that fantastic and no food??? My food icon was red and flashing so I had to leave and search for food.

I decided to head south and find the closest town/barn/building. I eventually cam across this small town with a huge warehouse-looking building. I ran as close as I could and then crawled into the structure careful to avoid being detected. Nothing! More disappointment. I decide that if I don't get food soon I'll be in trouble, so I get up and sprint. I have gotten quite good at losing crowds of zombies so I'm not too fussed. I just need to find food. I duck and weave through fences and buildings but none of them seem accessible. I keep running until I pass a barricade in the street and spot a frikin motorbike. So excited, I run over to it and try to get on while avoiding damage. My first attempt finds me sitting on the back of the bike like a b*tch! I get off and try again. This time success. The controls are different to walking so I'm a bit wonky at first but I eventually figure it out and speed away from the conga line of zombies chasing me.

I ride off into a field with no buildings in sight. I'm determined just to keep riding until I find one. I don't know what happens if you're hungry for too long, but I didn't want to find out. After what feels like an eternity, I find a road and think my best bet is to travel along it. I'm beyond caring about being spotted. After a km or so I come across a small building, but not accessible. I keep riding and soon come to a bigger structure. It looks like a farm - only a few zombies around. I ride the bike kind of close and then I hear flies. There's a corpse around. I get off quickly, drop to a crawl and try to find it. Eventually against the wire fence I find a corpse of what looks like a soldier. I check his gear and OH MY F'ING GOD!!!!!! Jackpot!!! This guy has a L85A2 AWS with a crapload of ammo, a ghillie suit, G17, military torch, medical supplies, GPS, map, compass, entrenching tool, NV goggles, hunting knife, matches, military torch and most importantly cooked meat. I can't believe my luck!!! I quickly take as much as I can and start to crawl away. As I head back to the bike I am shocked to see a huge group of soldiers around the corner all pointing guns at something. They don't seem to be moving, but I sh*t myself and hurry in the opposite direction, ditching the bike!!!!!

When I'm far enough away in cover and I'm pretty sure I'm not being pursued, I turn around and get out my binoculars and see that the soldiers are not moving at all. I take a quick photo with my phone (see attached). So weird!!! Anyway, I head into the trees to find cover. Now I have a map and GPS I work out that I am on a farm southwest of Skalka . I think I've pushed my luck enough so I log off, shocked and excited. It's only after I read about the items I've acquired on the wiki that I realise just how insanely lucky I was!!!! I love this game!!!

Thoughts?

That was a guy duping items.

You leave a standing corpse of yourself behind, with your sidearm outside when you do that glitch.

ah, thats why i see loads of dead players standing arround with no visible injuries!! hmmm, tell me, do they stay like that close to their camp or just randomly on the server?

They dupe their body so they can take items from it. They will stay there probably til server reset. Just a dead body standing with items.

I don't know about people doing this intentionally to dupe because if they are doing it on purpose then why has almost every one I've come across had all there gear intact?

It can happen accidentally too, though now its increasingly common for it to be intentional.

An interested story. I remember when I first found my good batch of gear. Was a proud moment. :P

I used to do this accidently while fucking around at my camp. Sometimes the inventory's would link, so if you took stuff from the duped body it would remove it from my own body.

That's kinda interesting about the glitch, I didn't know that. I don't give a shit how to do it, but it answers the question I had about finding players being statues.

My first life where I had really good gear went about like that. I had nothing. A patrol pack, a few cans of food/drink, a revolver, and a crossbow.

Found a guy dead near a barn with a full loadout. The only thing missing was a GPS and rangefinder, neither of which I really needed. At least it was a legit loadout, I don't figure too many people would hack in a winchester.

You can't know that unless you know what gear they actually have.

They have wanted to double their ammo or get a second pair of nvgs or w/e. Most of the time they won't need their primary/secondary again so that's why people get scared off and why you think their inventory is intact.

That guy on the screenshots did that multiple times in a small area, he was obviously doing it on purpose so something must have been missing.
