On the fear of death - why I play DayZ

Recommended Posts

There i was, reading through my facebook feed, and among many smart asses, hipster wannabes, and just plain stupid people, I find this text by IGN:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/20/why-gamers-are-gluttons-for-punishment

And you know what? What a perfect way to explain why do I love DayZ so much. Sure, hackers everywhere spoil the game completely for no good reason other than to piss people off, and the PVP has gone out of control... But why do I still play? Call me a masochist, but the punishment of dying "permanently" keeps me going. I actually feel bad if I'm living for too long in this game. It is somewhat satisfying after days of survival to be shot by some KoS douche bag, and start all over. Zero itens, as I don't keep tents anywhere. I like to think of what will I do next, what should my plans be, wonder what awaits me in the wonderful world that is DayZ.

All I can say is I can't wait for the standalone. I'm sure this feeling will be multiplied by the fantastic new features that await us. We are counting on you Rocket!

That's the same reason I love it, you never know what's gonna happen. I can't wait for the standalone, don't listen to the hate Rocket you made a great mod. I'm more than sure the standalone will be awesome.
