Hungry, Hungry Backpacks.

Recommended Posts

I had an M4A1 with a scope & 6 mags of ammo for it. I was very proud of this gun because it was the best i'd had so far. So when i was in the fire station at Electro, I got swarmed by a heap of zombies, so that i wouldn't waste ammo, I wanted to grab the Remington at my feet, use that, drop it, and carry on... but as i went to put my M4A1 in my bag, I already had an mp5 in there, thinking it would just swap the guns out, i put the m4a1 in my bag, now the m4a1 is missing, the mp5 still in my bag, and i'm stuck with a Remington...

What The F**K!

You have to have space available for the gun, otherwise say goodbye to it!

When putting items in your pack, if you don't have enough space, even by one, it will simply delete it. It won't attempt to swap guns out or anything. Now when moving things out of the backpack, it will switch to make room. There are some cases where it may delete something, but I don't know them.

I believe it's due to how items are handled currently. I recall Rocket saying that they're not actual objects, just references to objects, so I can only assume when your MP5 is in your pack, it isn't a weapon that would be naturally swapped out with your M4, it's just an item that takes up 10 spaces. It only becomes a gun when you attempt to put in that slot in your active inventory. This is why ammo doesn't follow a gun into your pack as well, since it's no longer a gun. Rocket also said in the standalone each player's items will be unique objects, so he'll be able to fix a lot of the problems with inventory, and plans to completely rework the whole system.

So, just move out instead of in, and wait for standalone for the fix.
