This will add a bit more realism to the game.

So if you chop a tree down it should fall down and make a lot of noise. Then you have to chop it into logs. Then you chop it into fire wood. After that you can cut the fire wood down into twigs with a survival knife which would spawn in residential, military, and deerstands. With twigs you could set a trap so when something steps on it snaps and makes noise. The survival knife is mainly a hunting knife.

I don't think wood should be a spawn item, not in weird places anyway. You either get it by chopping like you mentioned above or the spawn points are only outside of barns or any house/cabin with a chimney.
