Installation problems with Steam/Six Launcher/Play with Six & DayZ Commander

Recommended Posts

Hi community and hopefully IT-Pro's as well :)

My problem might be a bit confusing, but could be a reason for all the players still not being able to talk ingame using the voice chat.

To say that from the beginning on: Atm my DayZ version is just running fine and I can at least enter our own dayZ server with voice chat, play lingor, Takistan and Utes as well (on some servers), all achieved by completely reinstalling everything, starting a new download via steam (where I bought Arma2 CO) and starting to use the new version of the six launcher (called play with six).

But as Utes is not supported by this tool, which normally sets everything up to date and shows possible updates, I have to start it via the ingame browser. My understanding when I play DayZ normally via play-with-six is: Everything now is up to date. But suprisingly most of the Utes servers I can't enter due to the wrong beta version, most of them say mine is to old and a new one should be available. In fact in the ingame browser it only says "1.62" and does not show which version it is. So now, although I was sure never to use the DayZ Commander again as it crashed my previous installation completely (some downgrades and upgrades I initiated myself maybe as well ;) ), I just installed the commander again. Just to see if I could enter any of the Utes servers via the tool without touching my game which seems to give me, after month of being mute, the chance to talk via voice chat.

And the result is: The DayZ Commander does not even recognize one of the installations. Not DayZ Classic, not Lingor, not Takistan, not Utes. For all of them, except maybe Utes, I got live chars on I can play via the play-with-six tool just fine. But the commander wants me to install them all again.

My question here is: How do the different tools work in combination with the different versions of the game, like mine was bought on steam? Is there a safe way to make sure you got the correct files installed? As I heard stories of too early released patches for the different tools.

I hope I didn't confuse you and you can see te problem. I am just wondering why I can't enter some of the servers with a tool that says everything is up to date and maybe being forced to crash my installation by using different tools again. Not being able to talk sucks, not being able to play with your buddies as well.

Thx for any kind of advise! :)
