Killed by guy walking in air

Somewhat new to DayZ. Friends recommended it. Played the ARMA2 basic training, and then been playing maybe 20 hours total DayZ. Anyway, I found a little army camp and looted an assault rifle and felt pretty good. Suddenly a hear a voice that sounds like it's being run through a filter. He's calling my in-game name. He can obviously see me (I'm in a tent). I walk outside, and he says look up. I see a guy walking in the air very far away. Literally, he's walking on the air in the sky. He says if I run he'll shoot me, I run anyway... I'm too much of a noob to know voice commands. I run up a hill, and think I lost him. Then he teleports next to me. Obviously he's stalking me, that's the creep part. I see he's wearing a tux. Then I die.

What is this? In a game with permadeath, I wasted a lot of time an effort to be killed like this. I assume this is an exploit of some sort?

Yes...it does happen a lot sadly.

Scripters can spawn things, Teleport people/themselves. Kill people on the spot. Etc etc.

You just gotta be lucky you don't encounter them for a bit.

Battleye (Anti-Cheat system for Bohemia Company games) has been banning cheaters for the last month or so. But there are still a lot out there.

If you want, people have set up just straight password protected servers that you need to ask and probably go through a check to play on.

These servers are not connected to the main hive, so anything you would do on the character in a private server, when you join a different server you will not have the same things and will have to restart.

Or you can just play as is, and accept the fact that at any moment, you can be tele'd in front of someones SAW.

if you happen to see a hacker just alt f4 dont even mess with them or play along with them it almost always ends badly
