Standalone - serverwide 'objectives'

Basically, since there will be generators, buildings to be build & underground bases, i was thinking about a different way to communicate with people across the map. I'd say keep the direct chat, since you can only talk to people in your near vicinity & not 3000 kilometers away. Another means of communication would be so you and your server has to repair water plants & electrical plants in order to provide electricity for certain map grids, making it easier in the night & helping you with electric fences that kill zombies.

Another fun thing would be to implement a rare/very uncommon telephone (like an 'old' one, with buttons, not a cell :P) and that you could scavenge telephone wire and lay them around to friends bases, main buildings so you can call upon unsuspecting survivors, etc...

A very rare item should indeed be the radio, with set radio frequences ofcourse, so you and your servermates with a radio can talk across the map, wireless.

But, to prevent trolls, fags and douches to ruin your electrical plants when fixed, or plain fucking up your server, i'd say we have to create server-bound characters which you can switch servers on every 7 days or so, to prevent serverhopping lootf4gs & create a stronger community. Say the server has 50 slots and no one leaves in the next 7 days, you will see survivors banding together, bandits banding together & lone wolfs looking from afar, trying to stay out of the mess.

Anyway, electricity & water supply plants give you so much possibilities it might be worth implementing in one of the later versions of the standalone since i figure it can be hard to implement them.

I like the idea of communities and the whole repairing buildings and such.

Also the telephone idea would be nice, except make sure the telephone wire spawn frequency is low so you don't have hundreds of cables all over the map.

I'm not to sure on the whole "server-bound characters".

But still, you can have my beans.
