I agree with The Designer. Absolutely nothing is rare these days. There is "rare" items everywhere. You can find dead bodies in ghilie suits with AS50 and 5 rounds and nothing more. Not a can of pepsi or bandages. Nothing but A+ weapons. Man, the hackers has just in a few weeks totally wrecked this mod. No point in spending hours searching for good loot when at least one person on each server I´ve visited the last week is a hacker and spawns with absolutely everything and can kill everybody with just a few punches on the keyboard. It´s really just a joke at the moment.

I have played for a few months and I still havent found a L85 - I have tried trading NV, GPS, Halo, and Gillie for 1, all I get at Heli Crashes are M249, AS50, M107, Bisons, Health box, Ammo Crate, Gillies, many Fal PVS4 and 1 SVD Camo with 1 Mag, what good are snipers if I am not a Player Slayer? Anyways at least on my Server the L85 is rare, I may hit the Trader Castle tonight - Cool place from what I hear (Link) http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/73671-the-coalition-changing-the-culture-of-dayz/
