Obsolescence 129 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) I've seen several posts asking about Takistan, so now, having played on Takistan for a few days, I want to share some interesting / awesome things I've learned about this map that may interest you:1) You can't chop wood with your hatchet! At first glance this seems terrible, but let me explain the effect it has on the game: campfires were meant to bring people together to chat, share, be friendly. Since players are unable to chop their own wood, players will often share a campfire with friends or strangers. I ran 2 Km just to meet a player who had found some wood and no less than 3 people cooked their food off that fire. They also shared some of the meat with the guy who found the wood. This not only helps people group, but it is the best way to regain blood because...2) There are no hospitals! This means blood bags can only be found in random spawns, making them rare as gold. I get more excited in Takistan finding a blood bag than I do finding NVGs or a Ghillie.3) There are no grocery stores! No grocery stores means no easy ALICE packs. It also means no reliable food. Both of things are fantastic if you find survival on chenarus trivial.----------------------------------------------------------------------Take-away points:- Forced scavenging for wood makes cooking meat a social affair- No hospitals makes blood bags/epipens as rare as they are life-saving- Better backpacks are harder to come by, replacing the standard ALICE in Chenarus- Starvation is a real and haunting posibility in Takistan- Dying slowly through attrition, and desperation, is more common as blood is difficult to regain- Getting sniped anywhere is a very real possibility and you must be more strategic in how you move around the map- Zombies see much farther and more of them can see you, running/sprinting upright within 150m or so will draw zombies too you in a hurry.----------------------------------------------------------------------Takistan is for you if:You wish survival on Chenarus was more difficultYou wish there was more military loot (I've seen over 18 barracks in 3-4 locations so far). You wish zombies were more of a threatYou wish you'd die of starvation instead of players every once in a whileYou wish regaining blood was more difficultTakistan is more difficult and challenging than Chenarus, period. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say it is a better DayZ experience, but if you like your zombie apocalylpse brutal and unforgiving then you should definitely give it a go.Good luck out there (don't forget to pick up some wood!). Zombie Jesus 723 Posted September 14, 2012 People should try all the maps, I cringe when I see someone say they will never try a map because it is not the "real" map.

RiggsUK 69 Posted September 14, 2012 Well i played for a few hours, and found the edge of the map, twice. then i found a goat, and it glitched into the mountain taking its meat with it. As its so steep everywhere i can see this happening alot. I dont think dayZ is ready for such a punishing map until its gliches are ironed out. creates more frustration than anything. My summary of this map is Made by snipers for snipers.
Fonziе 159 Posted September 14, 2012 So far in the few days I have been playing I have many times grouped up with strangers, flown an An-2, a Chinook, a Little Bird and generally just had fun. The first and second I have never done in Chernarus.
S1ippery Jim 139 Posted September 14, 2012 Its worth mentioning that Takistan is especially glitchy (even for DayZ)
Zombie Jesus 723 Posted September 14, 2012 Its worth mentioning that Takistan is especially glitchy (even for DayZ)Brand new. You should try takistan life, shit is fun. But it just was made dayz playable so it is glitchy.
Stix_FTW 13 Posted September 14, 2012 Flew an Osprey the other day, Found a C-130 and flew it into a groups Ural, UAZ, Bus, Offroad pickup, and civilian black car. Killing nearly 12 clan members.
Del (DayZ) 0 Posted September 21, 2012 I can deal with no wood but trying to find an oil barrel at the airfield in the north to cook food on is impossible.
filip_vdm@hotmail.com 13 Posted September 21, 2012 Played the map for a week now and I think the OP made a very good post and description. It is definatly not as easy as Chernarsus but that's the way I like it.I reccomend this map for more experienced players. Skin69niks 72 Posted September 21, 2012 Takistan is not for the faint of heart. EcF is as split on this map as the people who have replied to it lol. What I have found (I am {EcF}Skin by the way) is that my squad has had great success for the most part by relying on the basics. Covering your areas of responsibility are of the UTMOST importance in Takistan because there is such little cover to be had and resource management is vital as the OP described. You CAN die rather easily from lack of food and water should you not manage your resources wisely. For those that are up for a challenge however, Takistan provides an ideal environment to test your mettle. Since the challenge is what has attracted me to DayZ from the beginning (hardest game I have ever played for many reasons) Takistan has two big thumbs up from me.~Skin~
jackcrow 129 Posted September 21, 2012 I didnt really like it, but thats just me. I personally favor Lingor as the best of the 3 because of all the buildings. Lots of fire fights in buildings, running around dodging zombies, and it makes things very interesting when raiding a location because unfriendly's slip in and out with ease so you are always on your toes. I also prefer the additional vehicles. Makes our clan less worried about losing them and the ration of players with vehicles makes things much more fun. Again my opinion, Takistan just isnt for me.
