DayZ commander doesn't show beta patch 96836/67! Help please!

Recommended Posts

I wanted to join a server running 96836/67 last night but the update wasn't on DayZ commander.

So I then tried installing manually from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php but that just crashed my game and DZ-C said it was out of date.

I then used DZ-C to reinstall the older version (96751/4) but now my menus are all buggy and don't work properly >_<

Any help please? I've been searching around but haven't found anything helpful.

Is there perhaps some conflict between DZ-C and my manual install?

Thanks!

The manual install is nearly impossible to bungle up. I'm not sure how you managed that. I end up installing all of my beta patches manually since DayZ commander can sometimes be days behind.

It literally is no more complex than:

[1] Download beta .zip

[2] Unpack

[3] Run .exe

[OPTIONAL] If you use the "Run through Steam" option in DayZ commander, copy the Expansion/beta/arma2oa.exe over top the main arma 2 operation arrowhead exe

[4] Enjoy game!

If you've broken your menus you've managed to do something I'm not even sure I could do if you offered me money to reproduce it ;P Sorry, at a loss for you there.

But yes, DayZ commander is incapable of recognizing that a newer Beta patch than it's aware of is actually "better". If you use a beta patch that it's not aware of, it claims it's out of date when in fact it's actually up-to-date.

Ah I am using steam so thats probably what screwed it up.

Could you clarify what I need to do for the optional step please? Eg where is the default install path for the manual install, exacty which file do I need to copy and where do I copy it to? Also should I delete the original manual install once I've copied it over the main exe?

Sorry for being a dumbass but I'm at work and if I have any trouble fixing it when I'm home, it is easier to ask now rather than later :)

Thanks for the help!

Say your steam install location is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\

(Mine is custom, so I honestly forget the default location)

Then you'd want to...

[1]

RENAME C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\arma2oa.exe

TO C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\arma2oa.exe.original

[2]

COPY C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe

TO C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\arma2oa.exe

Done!

Moving the old one to ".original" isn't required, but it assures you have the stock version held aside just in case for the future. For any further Beta updates, just perform step #2.

Thank you so much I will do that when I'm home!

If you ever need a medic just gimme a shout... Although I spend most of my time on the coast with a flashlight so probably wouldn't be much help lol, but I owe you one! :)

It has worked! Haven't actually loaded into the game world yet but the menus are fixed and the server I wanted to use, is now displayed as available :)

Thanks again!
