Stamina

Recommended Posts

Was thinking about how many of the Arma 3 updates will be incorporated into DayZ standalone the other day as Rocket said Dayz will be based on more of an 'Arma 2.5'.

Stamina came across my mind and I was wondering if it would work at all, if zombies would also need some sort of stamina system and a more interesting idea crossed my mind:

as most of you know the spawn points are mostly on the southern coast with the exception of the one near Solnichny which is still pretty far south, I think it would make dayz more interesting if as you travel further north the zombies become faster, more aggressive and more cunning - my reason for this is because most of the activity happens on the southern coast with the big cities; Cherno and Elektro, the area is thriving with new players and so zombies/infected have more brains to eat, the players are also less-well armed, relative to those players who've been hanging around military camps/airfields, so from an evolution point of view, the zombies up north would have to be 'cleverer' to survive (Now is it really possible to have clever zombies? I dunno, I guess it's up to Dean Hall to decide if he thinks they're zombies or just infected humans)

Incorporating this with a stamina system, it should be harder to outrun the zombies up north because theoretically you should have more high-end gear and should be able to deal with them that way, this would introduce a mechanic to make the game more demanding for those seeking rarer equipment and also make the game more noob-friendly with slower zombies near the spawn points.

By 'Stamina system' I mean something which makes players run out of breath and possibly even pass out after running too fast for too long, I don't know the exact details of how it'll be in Arma3 but from what I saw in the previews/gameplays what they already have in-place looks good!

I like the idea. But we have to remember the game is about survival, and i don't know if rocket will consider to vary the stamina and agressiveness of zombies. But it does make sense, There are more zombies in the south, so it is reasonable to think that they are better fed then up north where players are highly geared. I think it's something to consider, as it will make the game more noob friendly, and more challenging when players are geared up too.

Weight would also need to be incorporated for stamina. Hence no carrying helicopter parts/tyres etc in backpack.

Or 30 pound anti-materiel rifles.
