Standalone only: Ruger 10/22, .22lr "bricks" and Backpack with rifle scabbard

Recommended Posts

So I know in a "real" zombie apocalypse, the first thing I'm doing is grabbing my Eberlestock X3, stuffing my Rem 700 in the scabbard, putting my Glock 36 on my hip, my S&W 640 in my bag along with a couple boxes of .45 ACP, a couple of .357, whatever .308 I have loaded at the time. But most of all, I'll have my 10/22 on my shoulder, with at LEAST 3 500 round bricks in my pack. That's what we need for the standalone. The .22lr cartridge is THE zombie dispatcher of choice, and it's absence in DayZ needs to be rectified!

It's the most abundant round in the world... we gotta have it. The reason I say only for the standalone is that I think it should be implemented with the new ammo system Rocket mentioned. You maybe find a rifle with one mag in it, be it a 10 or 25 rounder. Then in the grocery store you find a brick or two of .22LR. One can EASILY carry 1000 rounds of .22LR without slowing him down. But the caveat to having all that ammo is maybe that rifle you found only has the 10 round rotary mag in it. So you have to reload that mag after every 10 rounds, reducing the quantity in the brick. From what I understand this is Rocket's plan eventually anyway.

But it should be basically useless unless you score a head shot, and still not necessarily instantly lethal on a player even then. It would be like a less powerful Mak PM with more range and more accuracy. Have the ability to add a scope to it, red dot sight, whatever you wish. Maybe even have the take-down version (<-pic) in the game so you can put it in your pack and it will only take up 5 spots (but it take s a few moments to assemble).

As far as the backpack, I'd like to see one with a rifle scabbard like the aforementioned Eberlestock X3. Have the ability to place a rifle in the pack, without taking up other spots (but not be able to put anything else in there). Have it with 20 spots, maybe 18, but a spot for a rifle. Then remove the ability to put a full sized rifle in a backpack. Maybe a carbine or the take-down 10/22, or even a 16" barrel folding stock bolt action .308 precision rifle, but you shouldn't be able to put an M107 in the ALICE pack.

I'm never opposed to adding new and diverse weapons to the game (that aren't OP like AS50 TWS).

I also never liked how you could stuff a big gun into a small ALICE pack, so need a backpack with a rifle slot would make much more sense. If this were the case, I'd say a number of backpacks would need this addition; not just one. Say if there's 10 backpacks in the standalone, I would say at least 3 or 4 need a rifle slot

I agree with that. Have a small, medium, and large backpack with a rifle scabbard. Like the smallest be a scabbard alone with some MOLLE pouches attached (so like 5 slots only) and so on. Oh, and speaking of MOLLE attachments. I'd like to see that too. Be able to connect MOLLE pouches, maybe a CamelBack or mag pouches, etc. And maybe a more common sense type loading, where cumbersome things take up space differently, like in Resident Evil 4.

Tiercel... how 'bout this bad boy? I want one of their integrally suppressed barrels for my 10/22. But this Savage is SEXY!! A squirrel's worst nightmare. It bleeds gasses early up the barrel to slow supersonic rounds to subsonic, so no need for expensive subsonic target ammo (same for the 10/22 barrel). 10/22 is a little louder because of the action cycling.

I made a topic similar to this. Not complaining, mind you. I love this idea and the more people that think similarly the better. A Ruger 10/22 with a 25 round mag would be the best zombie killer. Abundant ammo and relatively quiet as firearms go, the .22 LR would be my choice. Glad that others want to see them in game too. You have earned my beans.
