Dissapearing backpack annoyance

I just left my backpack by a tree while I nipped in to a nearby settlement to raid the grocery store. I return and it seems to have magically dissapeared. I looked at it after I dropped it and it was there, but now I can't find it!

Do backpacks just disappear after such a short time (15mins max and no server reboots)

It probably dissapeard as soon as you droped it on the floor and you didn't notice it.

DayZ has that bug yea, happens to almost everyone who does that.

One thing that could help you in the future is first put some item on the floor (painkiller, watter bottle etc...) and then drop backpack onto that item.
