A player named Silviet came on to the server teleported all players into the air above the ocean and everyone was killed and lost all their items.

I came here to say just this. I was playing in a private hive server where everyone knows each other, then Silviet comes in. We all get teleported over an ocean and fall to our death. 3 times this happened before I got fed up.
