Spawning caused loss of items?

I was rather cuffed yesterday as in one building i found a gillie suit, a cyote pack, some badages, and a couple of guns.

I then decided to find a nice deserted place to stop and exit the game, upon starting today, i still had my gillie suit and my cyote pack, but it was almost empty, i only had some ammo and a crossbow bolt.

I then almost instantly got attacked by a zombie in the middle of nowhere, and then died shortly after... so goodbye gilliesuit...

i spawned next to a zombie with no items! i got hit straight away, and had nothing to heal myself.

I updated to the latest patch when it came out yesterday.. bit miffed, but oh well i was bound to get shot by someone sooner rather than later.
