What if they add another treatment medicine item for zed's biting you that keeps you from turning into a zed. If you don't get treated you eventually become a zed. You have option of starting again or you can play as zombie until he dies. This way you have human controlled zeds mixed in with regular ones that are smarter and can track you better. If your in a group then your partners will know your infected and either help you or maybe end up killing you to protect themselves if you don't have the treatment medicine.

They have to shoot you in the head to make sure you don't turn into a zed.

I think Rocket has ruled out player controlled Zeds being in the game at all. Mainly because it will end up with people running around being dicks and ruin the immersion for other players.
