Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted September 6, 2012 Had my server for 2 months now and all i have and all the feedback i get about my server is negative.....Constant crashes, somehow our UK server ended up being based in France, they automatically change the ping to suit whatever they want.... not OUR needs. They refuse to update to the latest patch at the moment despite us already having the server and client versions.and the latest issue that broke my will about 10 mins ago.... paid the month due yesterday, payment went through and boom, server shut down AGAIN tonight, no excuses, no time limit just boom no you don't , £35 a month for something that doesn't work so i won't recommend them to anyone....However does anyone have any decent providers cos im really wanting to switch ;)PS: they have the most useless customer service ever, last time i wanted the ping raised it took them 4 days to get it done then they re-set it 8 hours later.....

The IP will display it as france cause that's where it's registered. They can still use that IP on their servers that are located in the UK, but being displayed as a france ip.They refuse to update to the latest patch at the moment despite us already having the server and client versions. That's because they are releasing the patches through their ACP-Layer where they can guarantee a safe way to update the server. XAM 48 Posted September 6, 2012 The only provider to do so i think... most others are updating pretty fast, without any problemsI can agree on that they are being slow at it. But from my own personal experience I prefer Vilayer cause of their server performance. From all the servers I've tried here in Europe, they are the best. Zombie Jesus 723 Posted September 6, 2012 That is too bad. As a player I enjoy their private hive for Lingor so I give them props on that, but it does not sound like they have a good grasp on how to address customer issues.

Torndeco (DayZ) 46 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) Btw u are able to raise the battleye ping limits yourself.U enter the ftp manager go to the folder\cfgdayz\BattlEye\U either edit your BEServer_active_XXXX.cfg file & change the ping settingOr delete your BEServer_active_XXXX.cfg file & battleye will use your new BEServer.cfg file at next reboot of server.note:- U should manually delete your BEServer.cfg file once your server is reset & running. U do this to prevent hackers from uploading the file to get your rcon password.--------------------------------As for server locations i fell for that one myself, but thats what i get for not paying attention and rushing to order a server. If u look @ their site, u can look-up their data-center locations @ http://www.vilayer.c...atacenters.htmlWhen u order it specfies Location Routing , routing is the key word there...U got your server @ france & they have adjusted the ip / routing to benefit uk players.Arma2 is heavy client side, so ping times is not an major issue compared to other FPS,i.e i live in ireland and rented 2 server's in USA & play with 100+ ping no problems. Graz (DayZ) 146 Posted September 7, 2012 Yeah those Viylair guys totally suck. You should switch to Vilayer, I've had excellent service with them
SystemiK 366 Posted September 7, 2012 Elpis Host have been absolutely amazing to work with (though they only offer Dallas servers at this time). They often have a server up and running within an hour ff placing the order and 2 of my tickets were resolved within 3 minutes of submitting them. If anyone needs a US based server I can not recommend these guys highly enough, they have completely exceeded my expectations.
bambak@live.co.uk 4 Posted September 7, 2012 Vilayer has given me the worst, most unpleasant customer experience I've ever come across in my 24 years. My time with them is coming to an end, from the server shutting down whenever it feels like to the ping spiking to 200~ and booting me off (despite several attempts to get them to change the max ping). Even once when I asked them to do something I got a response along the lines of: "It isn't our problem" I immediately threatened to leave, after that I got the "Oh yeah we see the problem now!" bullshit. They lied to me in the first instance saying my server would be in a datacentre in London, when in actual fact it is a datacentre in Luxembourg.DO NOT GO WITH THIS GANG OF COWBOYS THEY ARE A SHAMBLES AND THEIR CUSTOMER "SERVICE" TEAM ARE VERGING ON THE BIZARRE.
venthos 605 Posted September 7, 2012 You mean a shared hosting style game server provider isn't offering the same quality of service you could get by leasing an unmanaged machine and doing it all yourself?Shock Factor: 0I know I'll get flak about "well I don't know how to admin a server" or "it's too much money". That's fine, but you shouldn't expect the same quality of service. When you opt to be a "wallet admin" (someone who only knows how to punch in their CC# to lease a server, and not much else) your expectations should drop accordingly. Oddly, it seems peoples' expectations go UP in such a situation.I take these "angry pants" threads with a grain of salt, because I view all such shared hosting game server plans/companies alike. I'd never use one. Unmanaged box all the way.
avid_gamer 132 Posted September 16, 2012 After much searching ...and $ spent. We have come to the conclusion that there is only 1 choice when it comes to a server host for DayZ...ViLayer. http://www.vilayer.com/They offer the best tech support.. ticket system,as well as Teamspeak...You actually get to speak to a person most of the time, or you can submit a ticket with questions or problems.(they answer quickly)You have the ability to have a Traditional DayZ server on the Main hive.. Or a "Package Server"Which gives you the ability to have a private server or public... you have the choice of 4...yes 4 different maps!DayZ TakistanDayZ LingorDayZ ChernarusDayZ UtesAll have separate databases...( you can switch between public/private from map to map) all vehicles save properly..all items save properly... You can change time.. set amount of vehicles in the map...way to many options to list..We have been so pleased with the game since we made the change to ViLayer...DayZ is a whole new game now. Thanks to Lee, Nigel, Casey, and all the staff over there for making DayZ enjoyable and fun for our clan again.M4DGaming www.m4dclans.com
avid_gamer 132 Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) That they don't, i'd have more success asking a cow to change my ping settings than their customer serviceThe fact that you are an idiot and don't understand that there are many RCON tools out there to do the day to day changes that you expect a server provider do for you shows that you are a clueless dolt. You expect a server provider to do everything for you? You are renting a game server... not a Server Admin... that's your job. Edited September 17, 2012 by Leadcatcher22
