hedich 0 Posted June 12, 2012 would be awesome if there would be some official server naming policyso we could find servers ALOT faster instead of having to go thru a long listfor example: DayZ - CountryCode - version - 3dp:1/0 ch:1/0 Difficulty (Host)i know there are filters but they dont really help that much. its a pain in the ass to find servers atm and once you find one its already full and you have to start over again. c.chris.perry@gmail.com 17 Posted June 12, 2012 There is an official server naming policy, many haven't switched over though.
Slyguy65 499 Posted June 12, 2012 i know there used to be something like that with the time of day some servers had UTC+ or - 5 IDK maybe they were forced to take it off cause IT WASN"T REALISTIC....one of the many over used terms for this communityi know there used to be something like that with the time of day some servers had UTC+ or - 5 IDK maybe they were forced to take it off cause IT WASN"T REALISTIC....one of the many over used terms for this communityscratch that i thought you were talking something else yaaa i think most have a similar format to your exact example....some are called US and FR or BRA while others are specific places in the US (SE DALLAS TX) soo uh what are you asking for exactly since they already follow a similar format. c.chris.perry@gmail.com 17 Posted June 12, 2012 FYI, the "official" naming convention, which has been posted to the server admin google group, by the dev team is: DayZ - Location ID (version/beta buildnr) [difficulty][timezone] dayzmod.com - hosted by CustomtextDayZ - Location ID OptionalCity (version/beta buildnr) [difficulty][timezone] dayzmod.com - hosted by CustomtextLocation = Country code (US,UK,RU,etc)As for difficulty, you should enter REGULAR, VETERAN, EXPERT or similar. If you got a custom setting you want to mention that differs from standard ,then use the following:3DP:ON <-- thirdperson on3DP:OFF <-- thirdperson offCH:ON <-- crosshair onCH:OFF <-- crosshair offRP <-- roleplay serverCurrently, many haven't switched over, but a few devs have expressed that they will probably just blacklist all of the servers that don't switch over within a timely period (I've heard 2 weeks suggested). Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) 105 Posted June 12, 2012 Hi, there is an existing thread about this topic already. Before you create a new thread, it is good to always do a search first, and also read the sticky threads (Please read this before creating a new thread). Thread locked. You can continue this discussion in the existing thread: Server Naming.
