First experience in Day Z, murder, luck and jazz

So, first off, I'm sneekygreenman, I intend to try not to kill anyone in Day Z. Naive, yes. Fun, you decide.

So I log into Day Z for the first time after my horrible rural internet finally finishes updating everything. Find I am on a beach. So i start walking. Literally two minutes walk later, i find a airstrp. Now i know these are horrible camping grounds but greed, etc. So i climb the radio tower. nothing much, a couple of shotgun shell and flares, all pocketed. second floor, bottle of water, pocketed. roof, nothing. annoyed.

So i decide to bug out and as im walking out the door i remember "hey there's a space behind the stairs!". So i go looky and find a M4A1 with two mags. Quickly, without a thought, pocketed. As I'm walking out I see a figure running down the airstrip.

I lower my new toy and wait, the figure only has a crowbar so I shot at him in direct chat to see if he needs anything,. he says he's bleeding so I offer to bandage him. As im working on that, he mentions he needs water so I give him my bottle, figuring I'll find more later. When he's had his fill I turn to leave and he gives his thanks. My back is turned and I hear these exact words over direct chat: "Thanks for the help but there's something you ought to know....I'm the decoy". simple as.

Exactly as he says that, a bullet(presuming sniper as I was pretty thorough watching my close arcs) hits the ground beside me and I start running like forest gump. Dont stop for about 10 minutes.

I now have a bit more gear, no more M4A1 though, all the lead is in zombies. So, my plan is intact, I'll still help anyone whom I find but perhaps I'll check the hills first. Consider me addicted.

Good story. I too have decided to go BACK to survial, instead of Banditry. Few interesting stories. Killed a Bandit, stole his motorbike. Drove it thru Cherno beeping. Got killed. Also had a run in with someone who was toying with me. Shooting me in the leg, healing me, morphine, shot to the leg, heal, morphine, one last time but he only blood-bagged me, and made me crawl thru Cherno looking for supplies.

For the record, I made it through Cherno unscathed to the hospital and made my way the hell out of there.

Hows about this - I am at a tree stand outside Cherno - I go to climb up and my Character decide to bale the ladder at the top and such a short fall breaks my leg - I have no Morf - Shit - I crawl in pitch black using my Map Hud and DayZ map online as directions and finally though the whole city and all the Zeds I get to the Ladder out back ( I dont want to shoot the glass and wake the city) I start climbing and once I get to the top my Character decides to lay down where there is no roof - WTF - Down I fall, unconscious and waiting the 3 min timer and losing blood, I awake and patch my wounds - about 2000 blood, I try again to fall again BUT into the arms of a player - I try and chat and I notice my leg is healed - Cool, I type thank you and then my Blood is full (Still cant see though - DARK) All the sudden I am staring at the DEATH screen - I believe he looked in my packed and saw my goodies and decided to take them, I dont think it was another player because no-one else died
