A few random thoughts

Recommended Posts

Do russian players find it quite easy to navigate round Chenarus ?

Why are there so many empty whiskey bottles but no vodka bottles. This is russia after all vodka would make more sense, or is that to much

of a cliche ?

I thoughts russia was meant to be cold, bad winters an all ( this is just me being picky).

Would be cool though in the standalone for alternating seasons. Imagine the trying to survve in winter conditions, would need winter gear, clothing etc.

I'm sure i thought of a few more while playing

Anybody got anymore ?

I would probably make a mess of my pants in joy if Dayz got a winter-based map.

Just think of it, snipers sitting in an ice formation overlooking an open field with a thermal scope while a blizzard rages outside, cutting off any normal viewing... And it would make body temperature an actual factor in the game.

The weather elements should play a more important part in the game for sure and shelter should be an objective for those who wish to play longer term/end game maybe.

Also on topic, there's an awful lot of top grade US military grade weapons and equipment around for a post soviet mini-state! The game needs to put more of an emphasis on melee and civilian weapons in my opinion.

Apparently they're revising the whole weather system for the standalone. I'd love to see seasons though.

Yea, the weather/climate should have a greater impact on your health condition.

Also it would be cool if the map would have some kind of different climatic areas, not to much I guess because it would get a little unrealistic to have like all 5 climate zones.

On the south coast a more moderate climate (temperateness) with a mix of rain/stormy weather and sunshine for example. If you travel up north it will get colder on your way so you have climatic transition (subarctic climate/tundra). And the north would be a more winter landscape/polar region with snowing/blizzards from time to time and ice floes on the north east coast where you need e.g. thermo clothing to stay for a longer time.

This way the environment would be far more dangerous (especially with stuff like bear traps or the announced wild animals) as well as going up north. But I think this suggestion would be more fit into the standalone.

I seena few good suggestions a few weeks back regarding weather and shelter, connected to your "offline" state. Basically, the gear you have on you, such as sleeping bags, extra clothes, sleeping mats etc. and your last location before you disconnect, such as a barn or a house, could or should have an affect on your characters performance when you next log in. I.E havign all teh stuff such as a sleeping bag, mattress and warm clothes indoors should count as "good" rest conditions and therfore improve your performance such as aiming, running, blood regeneration, health and thirst and hunger levels.

Going offline when outside in the middle of nowhere, with no extra warm clothees or sleeping bag would count for a "bad" nights rest which again would rreduce the afore mentioned attributes and make survivng a little more difficult for a period of time.

It's nto my idea just a culmination of other peoples good ideas already posted, but I think this is along the right lines as it puts more emnphasis on survival scavenging for things other than guns and ammo and means survival takea bit of thought and planning. Plus it also means you ahve to take into account the weather and conditions.
