Random Nonsense 4 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) I just made my 1st reluctant player kill. A guy called "killer".I'm pretty sure he'd already taken some pot shots at me as I entered the office building near the elektro supermarket and there were a lot of dead bodies littering the street.Long story short after being fired upon and managing to get away I work back around to the supermarket, Dead bodies everywhere outside and one inside. I quickly pick up anything useful including replacing a makarov with an M1911.Stuffed my face with some beans to restore a little blood since id taken a round in the office building and turned around to see some bloke with an m24 sneaking in the rear behind me. He looks at me, I look at him and just as I reach for my mic button BANG. Somehow he misses me, a stationary target 10 yards in front of him. A full m1911 clip to the chest and he's on his back. I move up intending to disarm and bandage him while he's out cold but up popped the message "killer is killed"Oh well. landed me a Coyote Backpack, m24 and m16a2.What I don't get is we were looking at each other for over a second and a half. I'd not fired when I clearly could have so why didn't he line the shot up properly if his intent was always to kill me? johan (DayZ) 21 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) Because you were just next to him? It's like those "heroes" who give weapons to new guys and then get disappointed when they shoot them in the back. If you come up on someone then you're already committed towards fighting as you're quite intimidating for someone who's been quite shocked. He could've been shocked, could've been lagging or what not to cause him not to shoot but in the end he made the decision to try and save his own life, or so he thought. This goes for both him and you, he came in and saw you, decided that when you turned around he must shoot to save himself. Lucky for you he wasn't the better shot. Had he been outside with some cover in between then it might've worked better since you could've informed him of your intentions beforehand. That or he just wanted to shoot you for supplies. :) Edited September 5, 2012 by johan
Random Nonsense 4 Posted September 5, 2012 Ah well. It'll take a few more encounters like this one until I start to shoot 1st! So what if I have to start over a few times?
johan (DayZ) 21 Posted September 5, 2012 I usually don't shoot first either. I've had quite a few friendly ecounters in this game. Mostly before the humanity patch, strangely enough. With all the bugged skins you're never sure who's who. :(
puppetworx 474 Posted September 5, 2012 I had a guy the other day shoot me in the chest with his Makarov knocking me out, he could've easily taken a headshot but chose not too. Once I was unconscious he used drag body on me but just stood there, when I awoke I couldn't move or bandage myself. Took me 5 minutes before I bled out. I guess he got some kind of kick out of it.
