Cheat forum section usage (questions)

Recommended Posts

If there's an admin or game developer that will be so gentle to give me a reply i would be really glad.. i'm sure that many other users are interested in the same topic. I go to the point:

This forum is open to anyone to post and anyone can claim that someone else is a cheater without any apparent consequence, in example i can open a thread myself, copying a report from another post, and claim that someone else is a cheater. I can do it for no reasons, because i'm a troll, or i can do it for a reason (ie: because i want to punish someone that i doesn't like).

Now we have legit reports, with admins that knows their "job" and are capable of correctly identify a cheater, but we have also noob admins reports (ppl reporting other ppl that have not cheating at all), and "kids" (admins or false admins reporting ppl that have not cheated.. intentionally, to "punish" em someway).

My first question is: how we can distinguish em? Why these reports are exposed to anyone here? How's possible that i can come here and accuse someone of cheating with no rules at all?

"Name and Shaming" (this is how it's called when you accuse someone publically...) is prohibited on most gaming forums for the above reasons: it's open to be abused, since you cannot distinguish someone that is telling the truth, from someone that is lying (intentionally or don't).. you may know only with some investigation, BUT after that the (supposed cheater) data are already exposed.

My second question is then: why these data are public? Who's in charge here to determine if a report is genuine or not?

It wouldn't be better if these reports were kept private until someone (with the right competence) would approve them, deciding with a reasonable certainty that someone is really a cheater prior to expose his data to the public?

If there's no one doing this joib atm (because there are no enough resources) then we're leaving this job to the server admins? If so, this is completely wrong, since it has been proven that a server admin can be competent or don't.. and there's no "tag" near your nickname to determine it: i may be a server admin myself.. or anyone else.

Thanks.

You make some good points (beans) there is an inherent problem with BE in that it does not support remote repositories. So what you say is essentially true, someone could fake a log entry, post it to the community ban list and get someone banned.

This is why it is a long held view of mine, and others, the GUID's (and possibly IP's) should be omitted from discussion when asking about log files and lines from them. Sadly the moderators do not seem to edit them quickly enough. Perhaps they should take a firm stance and start deleting posts with IP & GUID's left in, I think people would then take more time to ensure their post is kosher.
