SystemiK 366 Posted September 5, 2012 I just hope these bases arent super high tech things that we can just build out of nothing.Think about it, if you and your buddies were to build an underground base in your back yard what would it look like? The frigging Umbrella Corporation base from Resi Eveil or a hole in the ground, some tin sheeting and a tarp over the top?Considering that Rocket said that they will have a risk of "caving in" on top of you, I would expect the former rather than Umbrella Corp. iashford 73 Posted September 5, 2012 I think they'll be upgradable as long as you're willing to put rescources and work into them, however I don't think they'll get to umbrella high-tech level lol. I'm thinking moreso WWII bunkers
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted September 5, 2012 Mind quoting what he said, not saying oh a few months ago he said blah blah the actual post he made quote it.well based on what fraggle has said everything that rocket has said about the standalone is neither confirmed or denied, which means that the standalone could support 250 people or only 75 after everyone gets the stand alone and then see how well the servers do with all the stress. That's the main point here really, most of this is speculation gleaned from various articles. Nothing is conformed yet so we'll have to wait and see what happens.
scaramoosh 162 Posted September 5, 2012 It's a bad idea and it'll kill what I love about Dayz, with it being a seamless world with no where to hide. As soon as loading screens are introduced and everyone being in these underground places instead of the actual world then I'm out.Just hopefully other people agree and there will be server versions before this crap gets put in. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted September 5, 2012 Nobody really knows enough to start speculating about loading screens yet.
tyronk2@hotmail.com 36 Posted September 5, 2012 I would prefer above ground ones, i know they would cause lag etc though. but underground i think is abit farfetched, being able to make underground bases as a single person is abit much. If i remember correctly they will be instanced, so that will solve the lag issue, will see how they implement it.

Also, why's it not realistic? Edited September 5, 2012 by Fraggle
Skat3rat 1633 Posted September 5, 2012 I imagine the underground bases will almost be like a man made tunnel system that stretches from one end to another. It might be something like where there is some wooden beams and such holding up the structure but nothing hi tech like computer systems with laser detected security systems. I would hate it if it was like that.
