Add challenge & solve spawnkilling

Recommended Posts

Hey DayZ lovers,

Spawn killing: that isn't a problem in itself (it's realistic), i dont want to get rid of it, just decrease it.

Add challenge: i hear a lot some players saying after having play a relative amount of time, there's no challenge. They got all the items they want, and start camping on a hill n shoot down players passing by, eventually fueling the spawnkilling.

Suggestion:

Designing a map with zones of difficulty/%loot.

Of course, all survivors can go wherever they want, that's the essence of the game. But making zones more difficult AND attractive to a certain level of gear/stuff would naturally regroup players by level of difficulty.

Example of how it could work:

Newbie zone: where ppl spawn, with medium cities without much military loots/advanced tools/Etc. Few Z

PostNewbie zone: More loot %. Medium number of Z.

Average zone: military loots, big cities with good stuff. Lot of Z.

Advanced zone: you need advanced gear and mates to survive. Lot of Z + Z groups

Hardcore zone: don't even think to go there by foot, of course not alone. Repair a vehicle to go into the mass of Z here and arrive to the core of the city. Mass Z.

Basically - 'make it impossible for lone players to reach endgame'.

Isn't that element already present in DayZ (small villages vs. towns vs. cities vs. NW Airfield)? If you're talking about formal locations where newbies should spawn and gear up, that's like throwing meat to the lions because the snipers will know exactly where to go and pick off new spawns.

It's an example of zoning... Make it 3 zones and not any where you have to be grouped...

And what's the problem of not being able to go somewhere alone ? That's the way it would be in reality...

@Marshmallow: understood your point. I'm not saying that type of zones aren't present actually, there are, true. The only problem to me is to have Cherno & Electro (difficult zones in my frame) right in the middle of the spawn location.

That's understandable. I would like to see less predictable spawn points in the future.

they shoot spawns becouse they know there is easy target for them there. where ever fresh spawned players go there are snipers. So what ever you do those ppl which can do anything in fights around stary or NW AF will go to shoot freshly spawned ppl.

it is about their skill not about dont having anything to do.

Zoning is for World of Warcraft and character progression. You can usually make a go at NWAF right after sundown with nothing but patience and a hatchet. Late at night, a chemlight will do the job if the guy doesn't have a thermal scope (does a thermal scope distinguish between zombies and people? That would be one way to balance it out considering the zombies aren't actually dead.)

There are already 'zones', have you even played this game? Places like Stary/NW airfield... They don't need ridiculous amounts of zombies because they already have a decent number of zombies and the threat of other players.

How is that the way it would be in real life? In real life there would be a lot of zombies in the big cities and next to none at military outposts... Think before you write.

Cherno and Elektro Difficult?

Son you must be playing the game wrong. The only threat in these cities is the PvP. Granted I've played for a few month and know them two cities like the back of my hand, But any newb can study the out of game spawn location maps before going in,

And don't waste your time "Sneaking" so you don't alert the horde, Makes you a prime target for any newb who just found a makarov, And the snipers that I can guarantee you are watching from the hills.

You talk of challenges?

Starting off in Elektro/Cherno is the challenege, You got your bush wookies in the hills shooting you, You got the guys with assault rifles that come in to kill, And you've got a minimum of around 36 zombies if your the only one in the city. Chuck another player in the mix and the zombies jump to 80. You've gotta Kit up and make your exit with out taking a bullet to the head.

Once you've done that? Hunt the snipers down. Go stary to kit up some more (If you haven't scored everything from a Fire station or Deer tower yet) Then come back down and flank the snipers. You'll save a newb or two's life and get satisfaction if they managed to pop you earlier.

PvP not your taste? No probs, Don't sneak into areas then. Charge in, Attract the horde of any town you come across. If many zombies chasing you is not your challenge and pvp isn't your challenge your playing the wrong game.
