Dark Dayz - L-85

Recommended Posts

I finally get an L-85, instead of killing a guy with one then being chased off by sniper fire, and my god. It's ridiculous.

This particular video starts when I'm sitting in teamspeak listening to Benevento and Oliver play. They log in where we last logged out at and almost instantly get into a firefight and Benevento dies. I needed to leave for work, but I wasn't about to let Benevento's death go unpunished, so I logged in and I was less than 200m from the bastards position.

It's a shame that the proliferation of hackers is the reason I got one instead of finding one legitimately. Last night in my play session(not the one in this video) I was in a firefight where 100% of people had NVGs, and there were 2 MK48s, an AS50 TWS, DMR, and another L-85. I'm sure it was all 100% legit... right? :/

The tent was just someone duping items by the sounds of it. Duping has nothing to do with scripting/hacking/cheating in DayZ, it's just exploiting the tent save feature, and it's currently broken in this current patch, so it can't be done further. However as we all know since tents aren't saving progress at all, it means that if there were duped items PRE 1.7.2.5, they will always be there no matter how many times they are taken out, or even if the server is restarted a dozen times in a row. They will permanently be there until we see a fix. Grats on the L85, it really isn't "broken" nor is it that OP. The weapon is not all that effective. It was in your situation since your targets were less than 150m away from you and at that range a 5.56 round is pretty deadly. Thing is, that gun is piss poor accurate, and good luck shooting someone out past say 500 meters and killing them before they have time to take cover. The damage at that range is basically near 2000 damage a shot, and throw the guns inaccuracy on top of it all and you have a mediocre combat weapon yet an AMAZING spotting tool. It's also not a good choice tactically for CQB.

I almost never run by myself. When in a group it's spotting capability is absolutely ridiculous. As for it's damage and range and accuracy, they're all identical to the other 5.56s(m4, m16, ak74s(5.45), etc) except that you can change the zero on the L85, which makes it even better.

But what makes it unbalanced is the fact that, in a game where stealth and being able to hide from your enemies is paramount, it removes a lot of that concealment from the equation.

As for the duped tent, I can't agree. It had 6 weapons and each weapon had a number of magazines for it, and NOTHING else. I can't believe those items weren't hacked in, especially given the tent's location. And lastly, it had an AS50 TWS in it.

Tents like that are everywhere.. Even if it has a hacked in gun doesn't mean it's a hackers tent. I don't understand why a hacker would need a tent..

I too have a duped tent... It creates one lee enfield without ammo in one of the most inaccessable place in the whole map. <_<

Good on the L-85, though, my tip would be to have a second weapon for close combat, however, since the scope zooms in way too far. I mostly use it to engage targets between 200-500m as at 500m and beyond it's inaccurate -> impossible to hit with.

Mind you that many people do get these items in a legit way. The current issue with the tents duplicating items over and over have, however, been screwing with things. Like so many others I am simply waiting for the standalone and merely trying to cope with the fact that atm it's very easy for people to get the top gear.
