Animals should be more elusive

Recommended Posts

Greetings DayZ crowd!

What I'm about to explain is pretty much summarized by the title.

Animals are simply too common and easy to kill right now. This is a big part of what makes survival in DayZ such a breeze.

Therefore I think that animals should be made -much- more elusive.

1. Animals should have a decreased spawnrate during daytime and an increased spawnrate during night time. Either way, their spawn should be way lower than it is now.

2. Animals should have very good senses and they should be able to hear you coming from a long distance away, unless you are properly sneaking. Right now, animals don't seem to be spooked by you in any way. You can just walk right up to them and they won't even run away. Animals should run at the slighest hint of trouble.

3. Animals should no longer spawn near towns and cities. They would obviously be scared away by the constant noises zombies create. They should stick to forests and not just be chilling in the middle of an open field.

Just some thoughts. Feel free to add. I think we can all agree survival in DayZ needs to become more of a challenge.

Also. If you have aggro and you run by a cow, pig, or sheep. Shouldn't there attention be directed toward the easiest target? I mean the animals just stand there like morons. Zeds should hunger for animals as well.

Then I want bacon. Animals often disappear in front of my eyes at the times I need them most. They don't seem overly common to be honest..

There are a million on the coast, which seems appropriate, because the coast is dangerous already because of other players.

Yes I think rocket has said that animals would be wary of humans in a future update or the standalone.

As for them hiding out in forests, ruminants such as cows and sheep have to be in fields naturally as their digestive systems can't process woodland and forest vegetation, maybe that could be overlooked for a game though eh?

I've found this also. Times when im up North without a blood bag or friends to help and been in need of more blood, I go looking for animals....but I never seem to find any.

But every other time, I see what the OP is on about. I think the inclusion of more animals, and also animals that are threatening to players needs to come alongside it. The post above mine by Dr Cheese is also a good one! Like the idea of certain animals being in certain areas and also certain times of the day!
