possible solution to stop the mindless pvp

Recommended Posts

what I propose to stop the mindless pvp is to make players depend on each other to be able to survive long.

Think of a class system, were when you spawn you can choose a class. for example you could choose from medic, engineer, hunter, soldier, etc.

a medic would be the only one to administer morphine and blood transfusions and epipens, but he cant give blood transfusions to himself so your group would need more than 1 medic.

an engineer is the only one who can fix cars, helicopters and can place/remove wire fence.

a hunter is the only one who can gut and cook animals.

a soldier is the only one able to pilot a helicopter and use the entrenching tool.

each class would have their own starting equipment as well.

a medic would start with a backpack filled with 2 epipens, 2 morphine, one bloodpack and one painkiller and extra bandages. he would have a makarov like normal players do now.

an engineer would start with a toolbox, and a czech pack with some scrap metal and such. he would have a revolver with 3 clips as a starting weapon.

a hunter would start with a hunting knife and some matches and binoculars. he would have a winchester with 1 clip as a starting weapon.

a soldier would start with an entrenching tool and a czech pack with a military flashlight inside. he would have an m1911 with 2 clips as a starting weapon.

though it would require alot of balancing i think it would make team play much more needed

I think this idea is too structured to appeal to players of the game :-/. I agree that ways to promote team play (without punishing those who choose not to) need to be found, but without useing cooky-cutter classes to direct the game.

no classes.

people don't understand that there is no mindless pvp.

i kill on sight, but that's just to don't give an opportunity for the others to kill me and take my 3 blood bags, my akm, binoculars, compass and all the stuff i have. i'd hate to lose them and i won't give a chance for this to happen :)

We already depend on other players for survival. Whether or not we need them alive is another thing entirely.

/END THREAD.

If you search, you will see that classes have already been suggested a number of times. In fact, some of these EXACT classes.

The mod is currently not something that lends itself well to forced restrictions. The community at large does not want it, and the developer has stated that it's against his vision for the game.

Please don't argue for it.

Also, where's the Pyro?

In my opinion the game is realistic as it is, the PvP element is a problem that I have not encountered, but if this was a real life situation would you trust/approach somebody that you don't already know?

Your idea (IMO) would make the game too structured (as Hoik has already said) and a lot less realistic.

Current situation - Most players shoot on sight if they feel even slightly threatened.

Your class situation - "Oh look he's an engineer, he could repair my car I should just run up to him and start talking."

Yeah good luck with that.

Don't oversimplify the game.

On the other hand smokeshadows has some support for a class system here:

Heres my solution on the question of how to make people think before they shoot as well as encourage team-play without penalising those who don't want to: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10295

It may be a bit over-reaching, or too theoretical - i don't know as i havn't had much of a respose. I would like to know what people think though.
