Flush the Video Memory (Credit - Lewa)

Press the "Shift" key, (hold it) and then press the minus key on the Numpad.

After that, release both keys at the same time and type "flush" on your keyboard. (without the " ")

The Screen gets black for a few seconds.

If it doesn't work, try it again. Sometimes it may take 2-3 times to work.

Feel free to post any other fixes you may have found for artifacting below

EDIT: Added Video, Relog, and Video Flush

All I have to do to fix it is log out and then log back in and they are gone. Might wanna try that as well.

The only thing that does fix Artifacts for me, is to "flush" the Video memory.

Basically, if you have Artifacts, press the "Shift" key, (hold it) and then press the minus key on the Numpad.

After that, release both keys at the same time and type "flush" on your keyboard. (without the " ")

The Screen gets black for a few seconds.

This fixes the artifacts in the most cases for me. If it doesn't work, try to use this Method again. (Sometimes i must do it 2-3 times)

The "SceneComplexity" method may work, but it also reduces the Detail of the World around you by a huge amount.

Lowering Scene complexity will help IF you have a Gfx Card that is teetering on the edge of being able to run it - ie anything with 512mb.

Everyone else with a 1gb (or 2gb card) should be able to eat Arma 2's best and ask for more.

As was said elsewhere in here, despite what DRH said, the problem cannot be the Arma engine losing the floating point because of scene complexity, because if you play A2OA then you have maybe 30+ tanks onscreen at one time plus several aircraft, x hundred AI (all of which drop their weapons when they die) and local wildlife. All of this is much more intensive and complex than anything DayZ needs to render.

Any idea how to flush the video memory in DayZ/ArmA 2 if I don't have a Numpad?

Sometimes on a laptop keyboard there are numbers and symbols from the numpad on your regular keyboard like in this picture: keyboardv.jpg

To press these keys (the minus key is there) you have to hold 'fn'

You can try that

...naaaah. You can just reboot ArmA 2 for a temporary 10 minute fix. Rather do that than edit my ArmA 2 files. I shouldn't have to screw around with my ArmA 2 files to play DayZ.

Rebooting Arma never works for me, I would like to get a list of various fixes up in this thread because I know what works for some people doesn't work for others.

Sorry for giving a potential fix to the community for something that people say is a "game-ruiner"...

I think I've found your problem. Your laptop appears to be slightly damaged.

Wierd, since i upgraded from a 285GTX to a 670GTX i get 0 artifacts or graphics bugs at all, none, nada, 0.

perhaps this whole thing is driver/card related after all & not the game?

My buddy who uses a 550ti gets them until he uses the "flush" command, then his are gone too.

Thanks for the input! I personally haven't tried flushing. Usually changing the sceneComplexity works for me. To anyone else reading this topic, please voice your thoughts and any solutions you have found!
