ZomboWTF 527 Posted September 2, 2012 Used the search function, found nothing regarding the spawn mechanics though:Ok, so at the time the zombie spawning mechanics work as follows:When a certain player enters a 200-300 meter radius of a zombie spawn, zombies are spawned just like the lootWhen zombies aggro a player, or are spawned by him, and he logs out, all the zombies disappearthis is due to the fact that zombie AI is calculated by the player spawning them, not the serverThe Problem about this is:1)You can see where players are in a big city or if any players are near you by checking for zombies walking around2)Aborting the game makes you and your friends safe from zombies for a time, its like a "despawn bomb"I think it would be better to let the zombies spawn either outside of players visibility range, or with a different spawning type:Placing a minimum of zombies in every city and building with server start, though to the fact that servers cant handle the AI, let the zombies be totally passive, maybe roam around a bit if thats possibleWhen a player enters the area, the zombies become active and calculated by the player, also, now additional zombies could spawnWhen the player aborts, just let the zombies be passive again, until a player is at a certain range againAny Opinions/Additions?
The Aquatic Land Walrus 565 Posted September 2, 2012 Then if you aborted in their calculation state, they would become passive again. Most likely, also teleport back to spawn.Good idea, though.
ZomboWTF 527 Posted September 2, 2012 i just thought that using zombies as a player indicator makes the game feel too safe, this along with the despawning when logging off makes the game too easy and predictableIf this isn't possible in the mod, okay, but i think that a new spawning mechanic is needed and hope it will be considered for the standalone
