"3rd Person Exploit!" "That's cheating!" Wah wah wah.

Recommended Posts

Of course, playing/sniping in third person gives you a very significant advantage over other players who are in 1st person, and it can even make sniping "unfair" at certain points and camping spots. But guys... It's in the goddamn game. There are servers with it ENABLED and DISABLED for a R-E-A-S-O-N. If you choose to use 1st person mode on a 3rd person enabled server, don't bitch if some guy spots and snipes you out using third person, people CAN and WILL use any means to survive, even if it means using third person. I play in third person because when I'm in first person my game drops frame rates, and also, I just enjoy it more! It's not an exploit, it's in the game. Again, emphasizing this, if you hate it, join a veteran 1st person only server, and stop complaining about it on the forums, let the asshole 3rd person snipers do their thing on 3rd person servers, you can go on any other of the servers with first person mode only. If you ever enter a third person mode enabled server, you should be fully aware of what people can do and WILL do to survive. Third person again, is not an exploit. It was made for the very purpose people hate it for, to give you a wider field of view on your screen and to help you see things easier. If you don't like it, don't use it, and stop complaining when you die by the hands of it, end of story.

I usually don't use it, but I post one video on the forums where I do it and everyone gets so butthurt.

You can choose to avoid 3rd person mode completely, so by all means, be my guest, and play in first person on your own hardcore server.

Thank you for reading :]

I play in third person. I have now committed a grievous sin and am destined to spend half an eternity into hell.

Seriously though, I agree with you. Third person compensates for your lack of peripheral vision and if one doesn't like it, then they can play on a server with it disabled.

I play in Third Person OUTSIDE of combat. It usually helps me spot loot / Tents / Vehicles better; but when I enter combat (With other players,) I go into first person. Does this give me a grievous disadvantage? Maybe...*Sniff*...Maybe....But I have yet to be in a battle where I think I lost solely because I wasn't in third person. I snipe mostly anyway in combat with other players to begin with, and usually if you cant see someone from an angle you're at, at your sniping position, 3rd person probably isn't going to help much.

Bottom Line:

Using Third Person to help get items, vehicles, etc = Boss Status

Using it to get an arguably "unfair" advantage in combat = Bitch status

It's not that people are so complaining about it. It's people insulting others for using one or the other when in reality they use the opposite of the one they are complaining about half the time. (against third person, uses name tags, etc). And this is most of the complaining going on, where they make arguments about how one is unfair and gives an advantage, yet use another perk that gives them the upper hand.

Yea I have never understood this argument since there is already a solution with servers running first person only. Also it is a huge pet peeve to see people calling it an exploit when it clearly is not an exploit. If they want to argue which is harder fine, but I refuse to accept the exploit argument.

Personally I find first person only servers to be a lot more fun, but in 3DP servers, I use it indefinitely. The only problem is there are so damn few first person only servers! Right now, the most populated 3DP:OFF server has seven people.

I can't play in first person because I get extremely motion sick. Even in games where I can turn the head-bobbing off, looking around just gives me an almost instant headache. Trying to play most FPS games takes forever for me, because I can only play in small increments.

If the game went strictly first person I would no longer play. I simply couldn't do it. I have no interest in the "advantages" of 3rd person, my only concern is what view makes want to spew, and then avoid that perspective.

Using third person to see out of the air traffic control tower, or off of rooftops with ledges without having a slight chance of being seen... Yeah that's not an exploit at all.

I swear I heard someone say somewhere that there is a 3rd person view because in real life you would get a much better field of view then a screen and also be able to spot people much easier. So 3rd person was added to compensate for the lack of human scenes and a bad field of view.
